Job Title: Senior Product Design Engineer (2 Openings) - Location: Rochester Hills, Michigan
Wintegrity is seeking two experienced Senior Product Design Engineers (2) to lead the design, development, validation, and launch of innovative automotive Door Modules and Door System products. This highly visible engineering role is responsible for the end-to-end product development process, from concept generation through production launch, while ensuring all designs meet customer requirements, performance objectives, manufacturability, and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in automotive product design, Door Systems, and Door Modules within a Tier 1 automotive supplier or OEM environment. This position requires strong technical leadership, expertise in CATIA V5, engineering analysis, DFMEA, and manufacturing processes, along with the ability to mentor junior engineers and collaborate across cross-functional teams.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the design and development of automotive Door Modules and Door System products from concept through production launch.
  • Develop innovative product concepts aligned with customer specifications and business objectives.
  • Perform engineering feasibility studies using analytical and simulation tools to evaluate design concepts.
  • Verify critical product interfaces through design studies, tolerance stack-up analysis, and statistical analysis to ensure robust designs.
  • Develop product validation plans, test methods, and engineering specifications based on customer requirements.
  • Create, revise, and release CATIA V5 3D models, assemblies, engineering drawings, and design documentation.
  • Manage prototype builds, product validation testing, and engineering evaluations.
  • Lead technical discussions with OEM and Tier 1 customers regarding product performance, design changes, and engineering solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and engineering support to Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, Program Management, Purchasing, and Suppliers.
  • Investigate product test failures, warranty concerns, and quality issues through structured root cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Lead Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) initiatives to improve product performance, manufacturability, and cost.
  • Support engineering change management activities throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Mentor Product Engineers, Designers, and Engineering Technicians by providing technical guidance and training.
  • Conduct competitor benchmarking to identify opportunities for product innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Support 5S and Lean Manufacturing initiatives within the engineering organization.
  • Perform additional engineering duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 8-10+ years of experience as a Senior Product Design Engineer within the automotive industry.
  • 10+ years of Automotive Engineering and Product Design experience preferred.
  • Experience designing and developing Door Modules and Door Systems for a Tier 1 automotive supplier or OEM.
  • Strong experience leading new product development, product validation, and production launch activities.
  • Advanced proficiency using CATIA V5 for 3D modeling, assemblies, and engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of CAE tools and the ability to interpret simulation and analysis results.
  • Thorough knowledge of engineering principles including GD&T, DOE, DFMEA, DFM, CAD applications, Statistical analysis and Engineering validation
  • Strong understanding of automotive manufacturing processes and product assembly methods.
  • Experience supporting prototype builds, testing, validation, and engineering change management.
  • Excellent leadership, mentoring, project management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities with a continuous improvement mindset.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
