Job description

The Director, Product Development and Content Strategy, oversees the execution and management of ACOG's product development portfolio. This role is responsible for product lifecycle management, licensing and permissions operations, sales/fulfillment and distribution activities, and the implementation of initiatives that support organizational revenue and relevance growth and member value. The Director will maintain continuous evolution to product strategy considering industry trends, emerging solutions, new insights and changing customer and business needs, and use data to validate outcomes, drive insights, and manage the business both tactically and strategically. The Director will partner with the Senior Director, Product Development and Publishing, and executive leadership to establish short- and long-term product portfolio strategy. The Director will also coordinate with the Editorial team and other ACOG departments to define product vision, including actively seeking out new opportunities to further that vision. This role will work closely with the Editorial, Journals, and Marketing and Communications teams to deliver on content strategy initiatives and related products and outputs that further ACOG's mission.
Note: This position is considered Hybrid and will need to commute to ACOG's office located in Washington, D.C.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • This position does have direct supervisory responsibilities and includes serving as a coach and mentor for the team.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • In consultation with the Senior Director, Publishing and Product Development, define and lead growth strategies for ACOG's clinical, educational, and consumer products. Ensure opportunities are aligned with organizational mission and business
  • Advise leadership on product opportunities. Develop business and financial models to generate business case for action. Set strategy and plans for product launch and market
  • Implement and manage product roadmaps. Inform and engage managerial and executive stakeholders to build alignment within the organization and with external
  • Oversee day-to-day traditional rights, licensing, and permissions workflows. Develop recommendations for strategy and process
  • Identify, evaluate, and support AI-related licensing and partnership opportunities, including content licensing for machine learning, data-driven products, and emerging digital platforms, assessing AI opportunities for fit with ACOG's mission and goals.
  • Manage external fulfillment and distribution relationships. Develop and implement recommendations for strategy and process
  • Partner with Director, Brand and Content Design and the Editorial, Product Development, and Marketing and Communications team to oversee content strategy and revenue growth for ACOG's consumer book portfolio and Every Stage Health web site.
  • Manage and facilitate ACOG Committees that support product development
  • Contribute to ACOG's management and leadership initiatives, supporting work culture improvements and organizational
  • Provide leadership, direction, and management of staff, including fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment through supervising staff, providing feedback, coaching, support, mentoring, performance management, and training and development opportunities as appropriate. Make recommendations for organizational changes in response to portfolio and department growth.

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 7 - 10 years of product management experience, preferably at a medical society and/or in professional education.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Must have extensive complex budget management experience.
  • Strong business acumen to convey recommendations and influence leadership.
  • Excellent data synthesis skills to critically analyze and interpret market research and other data, to cultivate insights, and to apply those insights to develop business cases and plans.
  • Able to work with senior management across functions on complex projects and issues.
  • Effectively builds business cases and advocates for investment in new products/programs.
  • Deep understanding of publishing and content business models, sales strategies, and workflows.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure. Strong leadership, staff management and team development, and project management skills and attention to detail required.

Salary Range
$120,000-$135,000 USD
