Job description

The Senior Manager, Product Development, will support Manulife's investment product development strategy by developing business cases, coordinating cross-functional initiatives, and helping move product ideas from concept through launch. The role requires strong asset management knowledge, analytical judgment, stakeholder management skills, and an interest in emerging areas such as tokenization and digital assets.

Position Responsibilities:

Product Strategy & Planning

  • Support the development and execution of the product roadmap in alignment with business objectives, client needs, and market opportunities.

  • Partner with product leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to evaluate growth opportunities across retail, institutional, retirement, and wealth channels.

  • Contribute to business cases and recommendations for new products, enhancements, partnerships, platform initiatives, and broader global product priorities.

Product Development & Commercialization

  • Manage product initiatives from concept through launch and post-launch review, with guidance from product leadership as needed.

  • Coordinate multiple strategic projects, supporting strong governance, timely execution, and successful commercialization.

  • Prepare governance materials, executive presentations, approval documents, and business cases for review by senior stakeholders.

Innovation & Market Intelligence

  • Monitor industry trends, competitive developments, regulatory changes, and client needs.

  • Identify opportunities across public and private markets, retirement solutions, model portfolios, multi-asset products, and emerging areas such as tokenization and digital assets.

  • Translate market intelligence into actionable product concepts and recommendations.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Serve as a day-to-day liaison across Investments, Distribution, Marketing, Finance, Operations, Legal, Compliance, Risk, and external partners.

  • Build strong relationships to support effective decision-making and execution.

  • Support the preparation and presentation of recommendations to senior management and governance committees.

  • Support distribution and marketing teams with product positioning and commercialization.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of experience in investment product development, product management, investment strategy, governance, or related asset management functions.

  • 3+ years of experience managing cross-functional initiatives, coordinating stakeholders, and supporting senior-level decision-making.

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field; MBA, CFA, CAIA, or similar designation preferred.

  • Experience supporting the development and launch of investment products across multiple structures and distribution channels, including mutual funds, ETFs, CITs, SMAs, model portfolios, retirement products, and alternatives.

  • Strong knowledge of product governance, regulatory considerations, commercialization, and lifecycle management.

  • Strong analytical, project management, communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Bilingualism (English andFrench) is a strong asset. If the successful candidate is in Quebec, proficiency in both languages will be required to support clients from various provinces outside of Quebec.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience across U.S., Canadian, and international asset management markets.

  • Familiarity with target date, target risk, retirement, model portfolio, and public and private market investment structures.

  • Knowledge of tokenization, digital assets, and related product innovation trends would be a benefit.

  • Strong executive presentation, business case development, and analytical capabilities, including experience with tools such as Morningstar Direct, FactSet, Bloomberg, Power BI, and Excel.

Salary range is expected to be between

$92,475.00 USD - $160,290.00 USD

Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance. The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
