Summary

Innovation and product development are central to Orascoptic's growth. Our product development team designs and develops products used by dental and medical professionals every day, including industry-leading loupes, headlight systems, and digital visualization products that help clinicians see better, work more comfortably, and perform at their best.

We are seeking a technically strong engineer who is eager to lead electromechanical product development programs from concept through commercialization. In this role, you will serve as both the technical lead and project leader, working closely with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and development partners to bring innovative products to market.

This position is ideal for engineers who want to remain technically engaged while expanding their leadership influence. The successful candidate will combine strong engineering fundamentals with product development ownership, leading technical decisions, driving project execution, and helping transform ideas into commercially successful products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Own and lead electromechanical product development projects from concept through commercialization.
  • Serve as the technical lead for assigned projects, driving technical decisions and guiding multidisciplinary development teams.
  • Translate customer, clinical, business, and regulatory requirements into product requirements and engineering solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management, Manufacturing Operations, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, and external development partners to deliver successful product launches.
  • Evaluate, design, prototype, and validate electromechanical systems and components.
  • Lead design reviews and technical risk assessments throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Provide technical direction and oversight to external design partners, suppliers, and consultants.
  • Support design verification and validation activities to ensure products meet customer needs, performance objectives, and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with manufacturing teams to support product industrialization, manufacturing readiness, and commercialization.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and resource requirements while balancing technical, business, and timeline objectives.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and drive resolution of technical and execution challenges.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership.

Job Requirements:

Education

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

Required Experience & Skills

  • 5+ years of engineering experience with increasing responsibility in product development and project leadership.
  • Experience leading or significantly contributing to electromechanical product development projects.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals with the ability to solve complex technical problems.
  • Experience developing products from concept through commercialization.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive projects to successful outcomes.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and technical writing skills.
  • Experience with project planning, prioritization, and execution.
  • Experience working with external suppliers, consultants, or development partners.

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Electrical engineering background or equivalent experience leading electromechanical product development.
  • Experience developing medical devices or products in a regulated environment.
  • Experience with electronics, PCB-based products, embedded systems, sensors, batteries, or other electromechanical systems.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing transfer and process development activities.
  • Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM/PDM) and document control systems, including Agile or MasterControl.
  • Knowledge of FDA, ISO 13485, GMP, and product development within regulated environments.
  • Experience working with external development partners and global suppliers.

Target Market Salary Range:

Actual compensation packages take into account a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location; skill sets; relevant education and certifications; depth of experience; performance; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed reasonable estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Envista, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, medical/dental/vision benefits, 401K match, and/or other applicable compensation plans.
