Job Description
Job Title: Product Cost Manager
Function: Racks Product Line / IT Systems
Location: Delaware, OH
Job Summary
The Product Cost Manager is responsible for delivering product cost reductions that meet or exceed targets for the product line. Key activities include analyzing product costs, evaluating the impact of alternative sourcing and/or manufacturing strategies, monitoring actual costs vs. target, and developing and presenting executive level presentations. The role operates in a global and cross-functional environment and requires frequent collaboration with product management, engineering, quality, procurement, and operations.
This position will be based onsite at Vertiv's Delaware, OH office location.
Responsibilities:
  • Identify and drive product cost improvement actions by working with a cross-functional team (notably Product Management, Engineering, Procurement, Operations and Finance)
  • Develop product cost comparisons to evaluate and benchmark manufacturing locations and suppliers
  • Prepare and deliver presentations on product cost targets, key cost drivers, and supporting cost reduction activities
  • Monitor product costs during the NPDI process and throughout the product lifecycle to identify and act on variances
  • Identify and pursue continuous improvement projects that deliver improved efficiency and/or quality
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical degree; Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is preferred
  • 7 plus years' experience in Product Cost, Product Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, or Manufacturing
  • Experience with new product development processes and activities is preferred
  • Demonstrated competence in problem solving, data analysis, & project management
  • Ability to develop and deliver effective presentations of insights and recommendations, supported by data analysis
  • Experience developing cross-functional and cross-regional relationships to achieve business objectives
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI), Smartsheet, and other business applications
  • Excellent communications skills - written & verbal
