Job description


As a Lead Application Engineer here at Honeywell Aerospace, you will play a crucial role in providing technical expertise and support to our customers and business partners. In this role, you will be responsible for providing solutions and technical support for manufacturers of simulation devices used to train aircraft operators. Our team supports all Honeywell avionics products across many aircraft, military and commercial, by providing data, technical support, and software products incorporating avionics software from Honeywell Aerospace products such as Air Transport Flight Management Systems (FMS), Nav DB, and Aircraft Environmental Surveillance Systems (AESS). This role will be required to address multiple requests in different software languages across various avionics platforms.
You will report directly to our Director of Flight Sims Operations, and you'll work out of our Phoenix, AZ location on a Hybrid work schedule.
In this role, you will help enable the overall success of our organization by executing software and hardware deployment and supporting internal business projects and processes. You will work with the product team to enhance the features of the products and applications as they relate to flight simulation. Troubleshooting issues during project implementation and leading technical discussions with customers on implementation, configuration, and architecture choices will be part of your responsibilities.
You will report directly to our S&C Operations Director, and you'll work out of our Phoenix, AZ location on a Hybrid work schedule.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the implementation and support of air transport solutions for Honeywell Aerospace products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and identify or design solutions.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to internal and external customers.

Qualifications
Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization.
YOU MUST HAVE
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in systems or application engineering.
  • Minimum 1 year experience with flight management systems

WE VALUE
  • Air Transport FMS experience with systems such as: MD11, MD10, A320, A330, A340, A350, A380, B717, B757, B767, B777, B787
  • Navigation Database experience. Familiarity with the construction, field meanings, and AIRAC cycles.
  • Aircraft Environmental Surveillance System (AESS) experience with A350 or A380
  • Experience with Windows sockets, TDP, UDP, Wireshark, InstallShield, license keys, and Excel macros
  • Customer Support experience, gathering relevant information, troubleshooting, validating, and providing explanations or solutions.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Continuous learning and self-development.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting programming languages such as Java, C#, or Python. Experience with these languages will enable you to implement and support applications to meet customer needs.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
