Job description

What You'll Do

You will be responsible for improving the technical skills of associates by assessing developmental needs and driving new hire training initiatives. This includes arranging and conducting onboarding and ongoing training, monitoring training effectiveness, and supporting continuous improvement of training programs. Occasional travel may be required to support training activities.

Essential Functions

  • Conduct new hire onboarding and training sessions related to operations policies and procedures including classroom safety and SOP training.
  • Keep supervisors informed of team member development and address any issues encountered during training.
  • Conduct monthly training sessions as defined by the operations training matrix and propose new training and development programs.
  • Monitor departmental budget for training activities and implement continuous improvements in SOP and facility courses.
  • Maintain organizational communications to ensure employees are informed about training events and resources and conduct follow-up studies to evaluate training effectiveness.
  • Oversee safety, quality, and productivity of trainees and assist with inventory issue resolution, incident reports, and internal audits as needed.
  • Cover shifts, including weekends and nights, to ensure proper onboarding and training of associates.
  • Other essential duties may be applicable and assigned as necessary.

What Experience and Education You Need

  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory or warehouse experience, or successful completion of Americold's internship program, or a bachelor's degree.
  • High school diploma required; associate degree preferred.
  • Maintain forklift certification.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement company training initiatives and conduct onboarding and safety training.
  • Demonstrated experience in the food industry, warehousing, or transportation industry preferred.

What Could Set You Apart

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Engineering, or relevant field preferred.
  • HACCP certification a plus.
  • SQF Practitioner certification a plus.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to present company objectives and processes professionally to groups.
  • Proficient in MS Windows 12 and MS Office applications, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to work creatively on assigned projects.

Physical Requirements

  • Depending on specific role, requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, getting up and down from chairs, reaching, and/or bending.
  • Requires manual dexterity with normal hand and finger movements for typical office work, including the operation of computers, telephones, and similar equipment.
  • Requires ability to comprehend and communicate with others, verbally and/or in writing.
  • Depending on specific role, may require frequent or occasional exposure to temperatures at or below freezing.
  • Depending on specific role, may require ability to mount and dismount material handling equipment and ability to perform fine articulation movements with fingers/hands and/or feet to operate equipment.
