Purchasing Agent
Location: Zeeland, MI | Onsite
Compensation: $56,000โ€“$77,000 base + quarterly bonus potential

The Purchasing Agent is responsible for sourcing and purchasing raw materials, MRO supplies, equipment, and services to support production and business operations. This individual will play a key role in supplier management, inventory optimization, cost savings initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.

Purchasing Agent Responsibilities:

  • Source and procure raw materials, MRO items, equipment, supplies, and services while maximizing cost, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships and evaluate supplier performance.
  • Assist with supplier negotiations and contract administration.
  • Resolve supplier quality, delivery, and service issues.
  • Support forecasting and planning activities to ensure material availability.
  • Manage inventory levels and identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives and sourcing strategies.
  • Verify products and services are received and invoiced according to purchase orders.
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS/MSDS) and related documentation.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining material specifications.
  • Provide pricing and quotation information as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts involving products, processes, equipment, and methods.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and professional work environment.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Purchasing Agent Education & Experience:

  • 1+ years of purchasing, procurement, supply chain, inventory management, or related manufacturing experience preferred. Will look at recent grads at well
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in supply chain or similar field
  • Experience working with suppliers and inventory management is highly desirable.
  • Coursework or training in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related field is a plus.
  • Organized, proactive, and enjoy working in a fast-moving manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, can build effective supplier relationships, and are motivated to find creative ways to improve processes and reduce costs.
