Introduction
As an IBM Consulting FutureNow Center Intern, you'll work alongside experienced professionals to help solve real business and technology challenges for clients around the world. You'll gain hands-on experience, build in-demand technical and professional skills, and contribute to meaningful projects while learning in a collaborative, team-based environment.
This internship is designed to provide meaningful, hands-on experience that prepares students for a potential full-time career with IBM Consulting upon graduation.
In this role, you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting FutureNow Centers, where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.
Your role and responsibilities
As an Intern Package Specialist (SAP Application Operations) at IBM, you'll gain hands-on experience helping organizations maintain, enhance, and optimize SAP-based enterprise systems through technology-enabled solutions. You'll work alongside experienced IBM professionals while developing practical business, analytical, and technology skills that prepare you for a future career in SAP application operations and enterprise consulting.
As part of this opportunity, you will be aligned to the following practice:
SAP Application Operations - focused on application support, managed services, system maintenance, enhancements, and operational excellence for SAP enterprise environments. Projects may include SAP application support, incident management, system testing, business process improvement, and managed service delivery.
SAP is one of the world's leading Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platforms, helping organizations manage procurement, supply chain operations, manufacturing, logistics, inventory, finance, and business performance. During your internship, you'll gain exposure to how organizations use SAP and related enterprise technologies to improve operational efficiency, optimize business processes, and accelerate digital transformation.
No two projects are exactly alike, you may contribute to projects supporting clients across industries including healthcare, retail, manufacturing, consumer products, energy, government, and more.
Throughout your internship, you'll collaborate with experienced SAP specialists, business professionals, and technology experts while learning how organizations deliver operational excellence through enterprise technology. Through mentorship, structured learning, hands-on project experiences, and AI-enabled tools, you'll strengthen your business acumen, analytical capabilities, and professional skills while building a strong foundation for a future career at IBM.
During your internship, you may have opportunities to:
• Support SAP application operations initiatives that improve system performance, service delivery, and operational efficiency.
• Assist with analyzing business processes, gathering requirements, and supporting SAP application maintenance, enhancements, and testing activities.
• Contribute to SAP application support, incident management, solution validation, and business process improvement activities.
• Analyze operational and business data to identify trends, support decision-making, and develop recommendations that improve client outcomes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional business and technology teams while gaining exposure to SAP, enterprise applications, and cloud technologies.
• Assist with testing, validating, and supporting SAP enterprise solutions while learning how technology enables end-to-end business operations.
• Participate in project meetings, workshops, and professional development opportunities while building communication, teamwork, and consulting skills.

Required technical and professional expertise

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Engineering, or a related technical field

• Interest in SAP, enterprise applications, ERP platforms, application operations, or business transformation concepts.
• Basic understanding of how enterprise applications and SAP support supply chain, finance, procurement, human resources, and business operations.
• Exposure to data analysis, reporting, process improvement, application support, or business problem-solving through coursework, academic projects, student organizations, research, or personal learning.
• Interest in enterprise software, SAP technologies, managed services, or digital business solutions.
• Awareness of emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence and automation, and how they are transforming enterprise operations and business performance.
• Experience gained through academic projects, internships, case competitions, student organizations, research, volunteer experiences, or other practical learning opportunities.

Preferred technical and professional experience

• Exposure to SAP, ERP systems, application operations, managed services, enterprise applications, or related business technologies through coursework, student projects, research, or internship experiences.

• Familiarity with business analytics, process improvement, cloud technologies, ITIL frameworks, or SAP application support concepts.
• Interest in SAP technologies, Artificial Intelligence, consulting, and continuous learning.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with teammates while supporting SAP application operations and enterprise businesstransformation initiatives.

For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
