Job Summary

You will serve as a role model for new team members, showcasing exceptional product knowledge, customer service skills, and leadership qualities, while helping to maintain a high-performance store environment. Requirements

Essential Job Functions

Customer Engagement & Sales: 

  • Provide a higher level of customer service by offering detailed product recommendations, assisting with equipment fittings, and guiding customers through more complex purchases. 
  • Provide product guidance, fittings, and recommendations across multiple MonkeySports categories 
  • Help drive sales by upselling accessories and ensuring customer needs are fully met. 

Merchandising & Store Standards: 

  • Take ownership of specific merchandising sections, ensuring displays are properly stocked, organized, and visually appealing according to Monkey Sports standards. 
  • Maintain brand presentation through folding, sizing, coloring, and merchandising techniques. 

Point-of-Sale & Transaction Handling: 

  • Efficiently process sales, handle returns and exchanges with limited supervision, and resolve minor customer concerns at the register. 

Labor Skills 

  • General knowledge and understanding of Labor services offered. Provide one labor service.  

Inventory Support: 

  • Participate in inventory counts, help identify discrepancies, and assist with backstock organization, order procurement and product placement.  
  • Proactively alert leadership to low stock or inventory concerns. 

Training & Skill Development: 

  • Participate actively in training sessions to build product knowledge and retail competencies. Seek feedback and demonstrate growth in learned areas. 

Store Maintenance: 

  • Maintain cleanliness of the sales floor, fitting rooms, and backroom, ensuring a professional shopping environment. 

Additional Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Adhere to all company policies, loss prevention, and safety standards. 
  • Assist with store events, promotions, and vendor demonstrations. 
  • Help set the pace on customer service, merchandising, and sales goals. 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management to support overall store success. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to meet business needs. 

Qualifications, Education, and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. 
  • Typically 6+ months of retail or related experience OR successful progression from Retail Associate 1. 
  • Demonstrated product knowledge and growing expertise in MonkeySports gear (hockey, baseball, lacrosse, goalie preferred). 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. 
  • Capable of learning and applying advanced POS functions and store systems. 

Cognitive and Physical Demands

  • Standing and Walking: Spending long hours on their feet, moving around the store to assist customers and execute daily operational tasks 
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Comfortable guiding peers and modeling company standards. 
  • Lifting and Carrying: Handling merchandise, which may involve lifting and carrying items of varying weights up to 50 LBS 
  • Reaching and Bending: Frequently reaching for items on shelves and bending to access lower shelves or storage areas 
  • Manual Dexterity: Using hands to operate cash registers, computers, and other equipment 

Working Conditions

  • Primarily works in a retail store environment with direct customer interaction. 
  • May occasionally assist with receiving shipments or moving products in backroom or stock areas. 
  • Flexible schedule required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs. Weekend work is required. 
  • Part-Time minimum of 15 hours per week.
