IHOP servers take on some of the most important tasks in the restaurant. Your daily tasks will include things like greeting customers as they arrive, taking order, delivering food to table, processing payments, etc. To be successful, you must have a love for people and enjoy making lasting connections with customers.

IHOP Server Job Duties

As an IHOP server, you will be in charge of making sure that guests are as comfortable as possible for the duration of their visit to the restaurant. Most servers take turns greeting guests at the podium and directing them to the appropriate seating area. In addition, you will be responsible for getting food out to customers quickly and professionally. The primary job duties of the IHOP server job description are:

  • Ensuring customers are greeted quickly upon arrival and seated.
  • Taking orders and ensuring that special requests are honored whenever possible.
  • Getting food and beverages out to customers in a timely fashion.
  • Providing change and processing credit card payments.
  • Cleaning your designated workstation and keeping tables tidy.
  • SUMMARY

    Provide promptly, efficient, courteous service to all guests. Service includes greeting, seating, talking and serving orders, taking guest remittance as required, clearing dishes and resetting tables.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThese include the following:
  • Develop and maintain professional functional working relationships with IHOP employees and guests.
  • Execute the “Service Guidelines” per the IHOP SOP to ensure a high quality guest experience.
  • Handle guest complaints in a professional, courteous and timely manner, thank guests, and invite them to return.
  • Memorize and apply IHOP terminology, abbreviations, methodologies, and plating and menu knowledge.
  • Comply with SOP methods in regard to guest checks and server banking procedures.
  • Stock and rotate all needed supplies in the service areas and dining room as assigned per shift.
  • Comply with all local and SOP health, sanitation, and safety guidelines.
