Position: Laser Programmer/Operator
Reports to: Plant Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
EEO Classification: Laborer
Pay Range $20-$22 hourly based on skills and experience

Purpose:
The purpose of the Laser Operator/Programmer is to operate and maintain laser cutting machines to cut and engrave parts and products according to specifications. They inspect parts and products to ensure they meet customer expectations and troubleshoot any issues that arise. Additionally, they may be responsible for programming the laser cutting machines, performing routine maintenance and keeping accurate records of production.
Essential Duties:
  • Prepare and operate laser cutting machines
  • Ensure quality of finished parts
  • Perform regular routine maintenance and troubleshooting on laser machines
  • Program and optimize laser cutting processes
  • Select and adjust materials
  • Check and inspect finished parts
  • Observe, maintain, coordinate and complete standard work
  • Identify and support continuous improvement efforts with Plant Manager.
  • Sustain and drive lean manufacturing and 5S activities.
  • Participate as an active member of the production team.
  • Follow documented policies and procedures as designated by the company's Quality System.
  • Follow detailed instructions, processes and procedures.
  • Complete required documentation relating to business or regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions.

Skills/ Qualifications:
  • High school diploma/ GED and 2 years of experience in CNC Programming
  • Ability to operate laser machinery
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Ability to read tape measures and use calipers
  • Ability to convert fractions to decimals
  • Ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of safety practices
  • Experience in the manufacturing environment
