Process Simulate information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Process Simulate Specialist, and why are they important?

To excel as a Process Simulate Specialist, you need a strong background in industrial engineering, manufacturing processes, and 3D simulation, often supported by a relevant engineering degree. Proficiency in Siemens Process Simulate software, knowledge of PLC programming, and familiarity with CAD systems are essential technical requirements. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication skills set top performers apart in this field. These capabilities are crucial for accurately modeling, optimizing, and communicating complex manufacturing processes, ensuring efficiency and reducing production risks.

What is the difference between Process Simulate vs Process Engineer?

AspectProcess SimulateProcess Engineer
Primary RoleUses simulation software to model manufacturing processesDesigns, develops, and optimizes manufacturing processes
Skills & CertificationsCAD/CAM, simulation software proficiency, technical engineering backgroundProcess design, project management, engineering certifications
Work EnvironmentTypically in software labs or engineering officesFactories, manufacturing plants, engineering offices
Industry UsageUsed by manufacturing and automation companies for process validationEmployed in manufacturing, automotive, aerospace industries for process development

While Process Simulate focuses on modeling and testing manufacturing processes virtually, Process Engineers are responsible for designing and implementing these processes in real-world settings. Both roles require technical expertise, but Process Simulate emphasizes simulation skills, whereas Process Engineers focus on practical process development and optimization.

How does a Process Simulate specialist typically collaborate with engineering and production teams during a project?

A Process Simulate specialist works closely with both engineering and production teams to develop, test, and optimize manufacturing processes in a virtual environment before implementation on the shop floor. This collaboration involves regular meetings to review simulation results, gather feedback on proposed process changes, and ensure alignment with production goals and constraints. Effective communication is key, as the specialist must translate technical simulation data into actionable insights for engineers and operators. Such teamwork helps identify potential bottlenecks, improve efficiency, and reduce costly errors during actual production ramp-up.

What is a Process Simulate engineer?

A Process Simulate engineer specializes in using simulation software—such as Siemens Process Simulate—to design, validate, and optimize manufacturing processes in a virtual environment. Their main tasks include creating digital models of production lines, testing various process scenarios, and identifying improvements before physical implementation. This helps manufacturers save time, reduce costs, and minimize errors by addressing issues early in the design phase. Process Simulate engineers often collaborate closely with production, quality, and design teams to ensure efficient and error-free manufacturing workflows.

Job description

About Blentech Corporation
Blentech Corporation believes in manufacturing in America and is committed to growing manufacturing in California. In fact, Blentech has been a leader in designing and building stainless steel custom food processing systems in Santa Rosa, California, for more than 35 years. If you love food, equipment, and personal interactions, and would like to grow with us, we'd love to hear from you!
We are seeking a highly experienced, dynamic, and strategic Project and System Engineer III based in Northern California to lead complex engineering initiatives and mentor our growing team.
Position Overview
As a Project and System Engineer III, you will serve as a technical lead on major capital projects, driving advanced process engineering design, automation integration, and continuous improvement initiatives. You will take ownership of high-value systems engineering projects, solve complex physical and digital manufacturing challenges, and act as a key cross-functional bridge between leadership, internal departments, and major customer stakeholders.
Responsibilities & Duties
Advanced Process Engineering & System Design
  • Lead Cross-Functional Alignment: Work closely with Project Management, Applications Engineering, and manufacturing departments to manage complex schedules, resolve critical design challenges, and drive plant-wide process improvements.
  • System Integration Ownership: Design, implement, and optimize highly advanced custom manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment. Ensure flawless integration with complex automation systems like PLCs, SCADA, and MES.
  • High-Value Portfolio Ownership: Provide senior engineering leadership for large-scale, high-complexity projects ranging from $2M to $15M+ with complete autonomy and minimal oversight.
  • Complex Modeling: Perform and validate advanced process design calculations, including complex mass and energy balances, scale-up calculations from pilot trials, and total utility requirement determinations.
  • Tailored Engineering Solutions: Apply advanced logical problem-solving and consultative engineering skills to architect optimal, innovative process solutions tailored to unique customer needs.
Advanced Troubleshooting, Root Cause, & CI
  • Expert Technical Escalation: Provide advanced technical support to production and field teams to diagnose and resolve highly complex issues stemming from physical processes or system/software malfunctions.
  • Preventative Leadership: Lead deep-dive root cause analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to eliminate recurring system failures across product lines.
  • Continuous Improvement Champions: Champion Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to aggressively drive efficiency, eliminate waste, and elevate product quality. Masterfully analyze historical data from manufacturing systems to identify trends and execute new strategic solutions.
Documentation, Compliance, & Mentorship
  • Technical Deliverables: Author, review, and approve critical technical deliverables including advanced Engineering Specifications, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Process Functional Descriptions, Component Lists, Technical Reports, and Automation Architectures.
  • Regulatory & Quality Gatekeeping: Ensure all engineering designs stringently meet regulatory, customer, and company safety/compliance standards.
  • Strategic Collaboration & Mentorship: Collaborate with executive and product development groups to engineer new products, ensuring alignment with the company's long-term manufacturing strategy. Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience
  • Degree: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, or a related field). A Master’s degree is a plus.
