Job description

Job Title: Safety, Health, and Environment Manager

Job Description

As a SHE Manager, you will promote and drive compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while overseeing occupational health and safety, process safety management, environmental compliance, security management, emergency preparedness, and risk mitigation across all U.S. manufacturing facilities, warehouses, laboratories, and office locations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Health, Safety, Environment, and Process Safety topics and lead a monthly training on Safety topics.
  • Address observed unsafe conditions in an immediate, clear, and effective manner.
  • Support and approve investigations and analysis of SHE-related events; ensure root causes are identified and corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
  • Work with affected departments to develop controls as needed.
  • Complete and oversee risk assessments to rank hazards, identify gaps, and develop and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Remain accountable for SHE-related topics on submission of Expenditure Proposals (EPs).
  • Share and promote relevant knowledge, best practices, and experience within the company.
  • Ensure proper SHE principles are applied in Management of Change and Work Permits.
  • Assure reliable data in SHE reporting practices.
  • Technically contribute to project definition and implementation of Best Available Techniques (BATs) and engineering standards.
  • Work with local authorities, including Labour, Health, and Environmental Authorities, and local committees and workers council when required.
  • Define and implement appropriate Emergency Response Plans for site(s).
  • Define and manage the SHE budget.
  • Travel to NC and CA quarterly or yearly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; MSc in Industrial/Chemical Engineering or Chemistry preferred.
    • Higher Education certification in Health & Safety preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in SHE management or as a SHE advisor in the Chemicals, Pharma, or Oil & Gas sectors preferred.
    • Experience in chemical manufacturing and familiarity with water and/or UV-based products is a plus.
  • Proficient in OSHA regulations and health & safety protocols.
  • Strong presentation and change management skills.
  • Experience with investigations and process safety management (PSM).
  • Ability to develop and conduct training programs.
  • Proficient in systems-based root cause analysis, moving beyond blame-based investigations.

Work Environment

The SHE Manager will primarily be based in the Itasca location, with frequent visits to the nearby warehouse. The role involves remote work for training purposes at the NC and GA locations, with travel to these sites quarterly or yearly. The SHE Manager oversees a global team of 130 people, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and growth-focused work environment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $95000.00/yr.
