Job description

We are currently seeking a full-time Process Safety Management (PSM) Engineering Specialist for one of the following offices:

Knoxville, Memphis, TN, Charleston, SC, or Jackson, MS.

This is an excellent opportunity to join and grow EnSafe, getting involved in a variety of projects for a diverse range of clients across the globe.

A Process Safety Management Engineering Specialist who is comfortable working directly with our clients to address their health & safety concerns. Practical experience with OSHA's PSM standard is preferred but not required.

We work across various industries, including aerospace, chemical processing, pulp & paper, manufacturing, oil & gas, and automotive. We will capitalize on your technical strengths to help lead our PSM service line, performing work related to the fourteen elements of PSM. You may also be involved with other traditional safety work, such as machine safeguarding, control of hazardous energy, confined space assessments, and other activities.

Our safety professionals travel to multiple client sites primarily across the Southeastern U.S., but we provide services nationwide. You will grow into managing projects and expect to develop business with current and new clients.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role, you will:

  • Assisting with developing, implementing, and monitoring process safety management (PSM) programs in compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Helping facilitate process hazard analysis (PHAs) using the hazard and operability studies (HAZOP) and/or other methodologies. Experience with PHAPro is a plus.
  • Conducting PSM compliance audits. General knowledge of the fourteen elements of PSM is preferred.
  • Compiling processes for safety information.
  • Developing mechanical integrity programs.
  • Creating standard operating procedures.
  • Assisting with providing PSM training.
  • Developing Management of Change (MOC) procedures.
  • Assisting in performing EPA risk management plan (RMP) audits.
  • Assisting in performing combustible dust hazard assessments.
  • Assisting in providing technical support to customer operations and engineering teams.
  • Assisting in incident investigations to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Helping manage safety audits and inspections, preparing detailed reports, and communicating findings to site leadership.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Minimum Skills and Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering (EIT certification is preferred but not required)
  • 1-5 years of experience performing PSM-related work is preferred.
  • Entry-level knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations, industry standards, and best practices
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Communication skills, written and verbal, are critical to success.
  • Ability to travel overnight. Up to 75% travel may be required.
