Job description

Position Summary:

The Hopewell facility Process Safety Leader serves as the primary liaison between the Hopewell Leadership Team and the Process Safety Management (PSM) Team. This role is responsible for ensuring site-wide compliance with OSHA PSM and EPA RMP regulations, driving strategic safety initiatives, and facilitating communication and prioritization of PSM tasks across the site. The Process Safety Leader plays a critical role in risk assurance, incident investigation, and continuous improvement of process safety performance. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Act as the day-to-day point of contact for the Hopewell Leadership Team regarding process safety matters
  • Communicate site needs and priorities to the PSM Team; escalate issues as needed
  • Ensure timely completion of PSM Compliance Audit actions and Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs)
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to process safety engineers
  • Lead and attend Site Leadership Meetings to represent PSM concerns and progress
  • Own and facilitate the site-level Risk Assurance Meeting
  • Ensure investigations are assigned and completed for all Process Safety Events (PSEs)
  • Analyze Tier 3 and Tier 4 data to identify key site focus areas for risk reduction
  • Provide feedback to the PSM Team on Leadership Team expectations and strategic direction
  • Serve as MOC Coordinator for the site
  • Lead Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Layer of Protection (LOPA) studies
  • Stay current on updated industry guidance
  • Perform facility siting reviews
  • Act as a PSM culture champion
  • Review PSM metrics with front line personnel

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering required
  • Minimum 10 years of industry experience required
  • Minimum 4 years process safety experience
  • Demonstrated leadership experience at a large-scale site with diverse operational areas 

Additional Qualifications: 

  • Project management experience
  • Six Sigma certification
  • PHA leader experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience influencing within an organization
  • Release modeling and LOPA experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with hourly union and salaried coworkers at all levels of an organization

The expected base pay for this position is $104,600 - $156,800
