Job Description

The Plant Engineer will provide engineering support and project leadership for the plant. The expectation is that this role will spend approximately 60% of the time on project related activities and 40% of the time on plant support activities. At times either activity could exceed expectation. The Plant Engineer I role will include project implementation, production and equipment improvement initiatives and support the daily operations of the plant to ensure all safety and quality goals are achieved.

Responsibilities

  • Project management, project planning, project coordinator, purchasing, and supervision of contractors for various projects to assure completion on a timely basis within budget.
  • Adhere to and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HACCP requirements.
  • Lead and assist management with appropriate training to assure regulatory compliance.
  • Report to the Director of Engineering with a dotted line to the Plant Manager.
  • Maintain appropriate communication/relationships with all employees, vendors, visitors.
  • Provide the necessary safety training to contractors and others as necessary.
  • Follow, monitor, and ensure compliance with all safety, food safety, environmental, GMP rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Attend daily production/quality meetings.
  • Provide technical support for plant processes and improvements.
  • Observe facility operations and assist with problem solving on a regular basis.
  • Assist management with appropriate training to assure regulatory compliance.
  • Make sketches, drawings, line layouts, plans etc., and written instructions as necessary to affect equipment maintenance and repair.

Qualifications

Education:ย  BS degree in engineering or technical related area from an accredited college/university; Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical preferred

Related Experience:ย Proven Engineering experience (3-5 years or more) record of technical / maintenance troubleshooting and project work.

Equipment/Software Skills:ย Working knowledge in personal computers (Microsoft software necessary, Project management, Microsoft Project preferred) and basic understanding with Allen Bradley PLC. Knowledge of CMMS such as MP2 is a plus.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: None required, any maintenance-related licenses would be a plus such as PE, ASME welding, PLCs, wastewater, etc.


Additional Information

Physical: This position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb stairs, bend, kneel, stand for extended periods, work in confined spaces, and work at heights.ย  ย Ability to walk distances across facility, climb steps and ladders on occasions,ย  sitting at office desk work, sometimes in cooler atmosphere ( 35-45 degrees) , sometimes in engine room ( + 95 degrees in hot months).ย 

Sensory:ย Ability to hear, see, speak, smell and touch well is necessary to perform basic essential task.

Mental/Reasoning:ย  Must be able to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing demands. Requires strong organizational skills, dependability, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Must demonstrate sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion.
