Position Summary
Improve plant capacity and efficiency for all GCC Plants though process optimization and capital projects. Process optimization responsibilities will include analyzing existing processes to improve throughput, quality, cost, and efficiency. Capital Project responsibilities will include all aspects of capital project execution from initial scope development through startup and personnel training.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for assigned projects at the home base plant and other GCC locations - productivity, process, capital, expense and other.
• Be a catalyst for continuous improvement endeavors across all plants. Actively engage all personnel to develop and determine best path forward with resources on hand or detail required plan for most efficient resolution to opportunities.
• As required, supervise and coordinate contractor's on-site work force to assure compliance with all plant procedures and policies and to assure effective utilization of resources.
• Manage and support multiple efforts at the same time effectively.
• Ensure ESH policies and procedures are followed and documented. This includes strict adherence to change management, risk assessments, and method statements.
• Develop processes and equipment with sustainability in mind supporting triple bottom line of People, Planet and Profit.
• Work with plant teams (Operations, Maintenance, Quality, etc.) as well as GCC Engineering resources across plants while developing best practices for continuous process and product improvements.
• Work with procurement to identify, select and manage outside contractors suited to perform required work. Ensure quality work is completed in a timely and safe manner by supervising contract workforce and performing housekeeping and safety inspections.
• Support the ISO quality system as required ensuring compliance to the ISO 9001 quality standard and all GCC Quality Policies.
• Execute all Capital Projects in accordance with the HEM Capex procedures.
• Evaluate new processing and milling technologies.
• Design and conduct test programs for new or modified products.
• Provide Engineering support to GCC customers.
• May have other accountabilities.
Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills
A minimum of a 4-year engineering degree at an accredited university with at least 10 years experience in manufacturing.
• Experience which includes evaluating the performance of existing and new processes, making recommendations based on these evaluations, and successfully implementing process improvements.
• Experience with structured processes and tools. Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, FMEA, RCA.
• Must have the ability to manage time and priorities to effectively handle multiple competing projects with tight deadlines and budget requirements.
• Ability to practice good management skills required to direct and supervise contractors.
• Excellent communication skills and team skills.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD design.
• Must be able to travel up 10-50% of the time to support other GCC Plants.
• Must be able to read and comprehend company safety manual policies, SOP's, MSDS, and various production schedules / reports and engineering drawings.
• Experience in mineral processing is preferred.
