Job description

Quanta Power Solutions brings together the industry-leading capabilities and resources of Quanta's operating companies to deliver complete EPC solutions. Our integrated approach spans power generation, battery energy storage, renewables, transmission, substation, and underground infrastructure — from concept to commissioning, we execute complex power infrastructure projects with the speed, certainty, and operational excellence our customers depend on.

At Quanta Power Solutions, we are driven by a culture of safety, integrity, and disciplined execution — and we're building a team that shares that commitment.

Quanta Power Solutions is seeking a Process Engineer IV. This position is a senior technical leader responsible for leading the design, development, and execution of process systems for power generation projects, including simple cycle gas turbine installations, combined cycle power plants, and reciprocating engine facilities. This role provides subject matter expertise, drives process engineering deliverables, and leads coordination across multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant project execution.

Project Execution

  • Lead process engineering scope across all project phases, including feasibility studies, conceptual design, detailed engineering, procurement support, construction, and commissioning.
  • Serve as the primary process engineering point of contact for assigned projects.
  • Develop, review, and approve process design basis documents, equipment lists, line lists, and tie-in schedules.
  • Lead preparation and review of equipment datasheets, specifications, and procurement packages.
  • Manage process discipline scope, schedule, and deliverables, including tracking progress and identifying risks.
  • Coordinate closely with clients, OEMs, vendors, and internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
  • Support project planning, cost estimating, and execution strategy from a process engineering perspective.

System Design

  • Perform site-wide heat and mass balances for determining plant net power delivery and heat rates.
  • Lead the design and optimization of balance of plant systems, including:
    • Demineralized water treatment (RO, CEDI, mixed bed)
    • Closed cooling water, service water, and auxiliary systems
    • Instrument and plant air systems
    • Chemical dosing and wastewater handling systems
  • Perform and review advanced calculations for system sizing, hydraulics, and process performance.
  • Specify and evaluate equipment including pumps, compressors, vessels, tanks, and heat exchangers.
  • Lead material selection decisions based on process conditions and chemical compatibility.
  • Oversee development of emissions estimates and support air permitting efforts for gas turbines, duct burners, auxiliary boilers, and emergency engines.
  • Interface with environmental consultants on catalyst systems (SCR/CO), ammonia slip, and emissions compliance requirements.
  • Provide critical process inputs for noise studies, wastewater discharge permits, and secondary containment design.

Drawings & Technical Leadership

  • Oversee development and approval of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and ensure accuracy of heat and mass balances.
  • Lead development, review, and final approval of Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), ensuring proper control philosophy, safety systems, and operability.
  • Facilitate and lead P&ID reviews, including HAZOPs, constructability reviews, and operability assessments.
  • Ensure alignment and integration of process deliverables with piping, instrumentation, electrical, and structural disciplines.
  • Establish and enforce process engineering standards, best practices, and quality control procedures.

Leadership & Mentorship

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers.
  • Review and approve work performed by others to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with standards.
  • Support resource planning and workload distribution within the process engineering team.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and lessons learned across projects.
  • Contribute to business development efforts, including proposals and client presentations as needed.

Education, Certifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Petroleum Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license – highly preferred (may be required depending on project).
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in process engineering within power generation, chemical, or EPC environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading process engineering scope on complex projects.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong expertise in power generation systems, including gas turbines (combined cycle experience strongly preferred).
  • Advanced knowledge of process simulation and hydraulic modeling tools (e.g., GT Pro, PIPE-FLO).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Plant3D / P&ID and engineering design systems.
  • Strong understanding of industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary coordination and resolve complex technical challenges.

Soft Skills

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent technical writing, documentation, and presentation abilities.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under tight deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to engineering excellence.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
  • Employee may be required to visit job sites, field offices, and customer locations

  • Competitive Compensation
