Job description

Salary:

FMS Aerospace in Huntsville, AL is expanding and seeking an experienced full-time, permanent Mid-Level Aircraft Structural Analysis Engineer for our Huntsville, AL office. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing stress analysis of aircraft wing, fuselage, and interior monuments using both traditional stress analysis (hand calculations) and finite element analysis software. This position requires someone interested in integrated design teams where design, stress, and manufacturing work together to provide rapid solutions to unique design challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake preliminary and detailed engineering designs in support of customer program requirements
  • Design work will be performed in SolidWorks
  • Support design and design change substantiation when necessary
  • Perform design evaluations and assessment of results
  • Generate mathematical models, FEA and hand calculations, for determining airplane structural characteristics
  • Finite Element Analysis will be performed in NASTRAN/FEMAP
  • Perform engineering data analysis in support of customer program requirements
  • Prepare and present technical and structural engineering reports for certification or product acceptance, including visualization of results
  • Generate structural test plans that adhere to the defined scope, scheduled timelines, and test objectives
  • Interface with customer when required, as directed by the Engineering Manager
  • Carry out any other tasking as directed by the Engineering Manager


Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelors degree in relevant field for aircraft structures work
  • 4+ years experience as an aircraft stress engineer
  • Familiar with FAA certification processes and regulations, Part 23 and Part 25
  • Ability to effectively manage time over several programs
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks
  • Proficiency with FEA software (NASTRAN/FEMAP preferred)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work proficiently with remotely located employees as well as in a team environment
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
  • Must be US citizen
  • Must currently possess or be able to receive Department of Defense Secret clearance
