The Greater Manchester Region has approximately 2,500 employees. It includes Manchester Memorial Hospital, a 249-bed community hospital, Rockville General, a campus of Manchester Memorial Hospital, a 102-bed facility, a large multispecialty provider group and visiting nurse services. The Greater Manchester Region serves a region of 300,000 people in 19 towns.
Under direct supervision of the Sterile Processing Site Manager, the SPS Department Supervisor oversees all sterilization and decontamination services for the department, including receiving, issuing instrumentation and soft goods. organizes the daily operations, oversight of team leads, staff, and department services. This position functions as interim department manager in the absence of the SPS Site Manager. This position is the direct report for all SPS Uncertified Techs and all SPS Resource Associates.
  • Under the direct supervision and in the absence of the SPS Dept Manager, responsible for ensuring that the Operating Room is supplied with daily case cart system that contains all of the instrumentation and sterile supplies that are required. Orders, controls and organizes inventory to assure that inventory levels are kept at workable level. Handles instrument availability issues. Works with staff to ensure all instruments are available for next day cases and any potential add-on cases.
  • Assists Physicians, Nursing, Vendors, Operating Room and other clinical departments on a day-to-day basis with Sterile Processing Services issues. Demonstrates extensive knowledge of and fulfills all processing and documentation requirements to ensure the efficient distribution of high-quality sterile products that meet customer expectations. Creates and maintains effective, positive customer service relationships by identifying customers and their needs, ensuring efficient operation of the unit by establishing priorities, responding appropriately to difficult interactions, and educating the staff on the importance of quality and customer service. Works to resolve any issues that arise.
  • Performs all Sterile Processing Services duties independently at an advanced level including but not limited to: decontamination, instrument assembly, packaging, sterilization, case cart assembly, and instrument availability opportunities/ barriers.
  • Under the direct supervision and in the absence of the SPS Dept Manager, ensures all logs; documentation and preventative maintenance is maintained on all Sterile Processing Services Department Equipment. Works directly with medical engineering and bio-medical personnel for regular maintenance and scheduled cleaning of equipment. Ensure Regulatory readiness within the sterile processing department.
  • Works in collaboration with peri-operative services, participates in quality safety council meetings, and any/all other service line appropriate meetings and initiatives as determined by the site manager.
  • Maintains an advanced thorough knowledge of SPS and partners with Site Educator to encourage staff development and growth.
  • Focus on LEAN daily management operational model of Sterile Processing
  • Working knowledge of all functions of Sterile Processing Services
  • Advanced knowledge of bariatric, cardiovascular, orthopedics, neuro, and robotic instrumentation required.
  • Must create a positive environment by acting as a positive role model to staff and adhering to Leadership behaviors at all times.
  • Performs other related duties as required

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3+ years of Sterile Processing Services required
  • Licensure, Certification, Registration
  • Current Sterile Processing Distribution Technician Certification (CBSPD) or Healthcare Sterile Processing Services (HSPA) required.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of Sterile Processing Services preferred
  • One (1) additional certification from either the CBSPD or HSPA preferred
