Accounting Business Process Lead
Allied Mineral Products is a leading manufacturer of monolithic refractories worldwide, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. We are currently seeking an Accounting Business Process Lead who is a subject matter expert responsible for driving the optimization, standardization, and continuous improvement of finance and accounting business processes across global operations. This role partners with Finance, Accounting, IT, and business stakeholders worldwide to identify process improvement opportunities, enhance system capabilities, strengthen internal controls, and support organizational objectives. The Finance Business Process Lead serves as a key contributor to finance transformation initiatives, including SAP ERP implementations, upgrades, enhancements, integrations, and process redesign efforts, ensuring business requirements are effectively translated into scalable global solutions. Through collaboration, analysis, and influence, this role promotes operational efficiency, data integrity, and process governance while supporting consistent financial operations, reporting capabilities, and SAP-enabled business processes across the organization.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead Finance Process Improvement Initiatives: Identify, evaluate, and champion continuous improvement opportunities across global finance and accounting processes to increase efficiency, enhance controls, reduce risk, and improve the quality of financial information across the organization.
  • Drive Global Process Standardization and Best Practices: Develop, document, and promote standardized finance and accounting processes, procedures, and best practices to support consistency, scalability, and operational effectiveness across global operations.
  • Coordinate SAP ERP and Transformation Initiatives: Serve as the finance lead for SAP ERP implementations, upgrades, enhancements, acquisitions, integrations, and other transformation projects. Coordinate activities across functional and geographic teams to ensure business requirements are identified, evaluated, and successfully implemented.
  • Partner with Global Cross-Functional Stakeholders: Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, IT, Operations, and business leaders across global regions to understand business needs, address process challenges, and develop solutions that align with organizational objectives.
  • Analyze and Optimize End-to-End Business Processes: Assess global finance processes, identify gaps and inefficiencies, perform root-cause analysis, and recommend improvements that enhance operational performance, reporting capabilities, and user experience while leveraging SAP ERP capabilities.
  • Support Internal Controls, Compliance and Governance: Ensure finance processes are designed and maintained in alignment with internal control requirements, company policies, and applicable regulatory standards while identifying opportunities to strengthen the global control environment.
  • Maintain Process Documentation and Governance Frameworks: Develop and maintain global process maps, standard operating procedures, training materials, and related documentation to support consistency, compliance, and organizational knowledge sharing.
  • Enhance Data Integrity and SAP Reporting Capabilities: Partner with business and technology teams to improve data quality, reporting tools, and SAP ERP functionality, ensuring accurate, reliable, and actionable financial information for decision making.
  • Facilitate Change Management and User Adoption: Support global organizational change initiatives by coordinating communications, facilitating training, and providing guidance during SAP ERP implementations, upgrades, and process changes to promote adoption and minimize business disruption.
  • Serve as the Global Finance Business Process Subject Matter Expert: Act as a trusted advisor and primary resource for finance process and SAP ERP expertise, providing guidance on process design, system capabilities, and continuous improvement opportunities that support global business objectives and financial operations.
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in Finance, Accounting, Financial Systems, Business Process Management, or Finance Transformation roles.
  • 5+ years of experience leading cross-functional process improvement, ERP implementation, or finance transformation initiatives.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP ERP, including finance-related modules, business process design, system enhancements, testing, implementation, and user support.
  • Experience partnering with Finance, Accounting, IT, and operational stakeholders to deliver process and system improvements.
  • Proven experience documenting, analyzing, and optimizing end-to-end finance and accounting processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred
  • Manufacturing industry experience.
  • SAP S/4HANA experience.
  • Product costing and manufacturing variance analysis experience.
  • Experience with Power BI, advanced Excel, SQL, or reporting and analytics tools.
  • CPA.
Travel Requirements
  • Travel up to 10-20%, including domestic and international travel, to support global SAP ERP initiatives, process standardization efforts, business integrations, training, and stakeholder engagement across operating locations.
  • Flexibility to collaborate with global teams across multiple time zones.
