ABOUT THE ROLE
***Remote + travel- Must be within driving distance to a Packaging Exchange branch, preferably Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Somerset NJ, Los Angeles and Seattle***
Packaging Exchange is a national packaging and distribution company operating 25 locations across North America with a team of 400+. The Business Process Improvement Manager (BPIM) will be a pivotal resource driving improvement on key strategic, cross functional initiatives. The BPIM will also help lead and coordinate tactical execution projects across departments, providing support to functional resources and limiting disruption to daily operations.
We hire for attitude, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to navigate ambiguity in a lean, high-growth environment. New team members are developed through hands-on mentorship and a structured continuous-improvement development program, so strong problem-solvers can succeed here regardless of the industry they come from.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Identify and drive tactical continuous-improvement opportunities that optimize process flow, reduce cost, and eliminate operational friction.
· Lead discrete cross-functional projects end to end, including scope, plan, schedule, budget, execution, and closeout.
· Anticipate project risks and issues early, communicate them clearly, and resolve them with cross-functional stakeholders.
· Coordinate across departments and stakeholder groups to align priorities, sequence work, and keep projects moving.
· Manage vendor, partner, and process transitions, including onboarding, qualification, ramp-up, and handoff.
· Build detailed project plans and lead planning sessions, tracking progress against milestones and holding stakeholders accountable to deadlines.
· Serve as the central point of communication for each project, delivering concise status updates to leadership on a weekly and monthly basis.
· Maintain process documentation and standard work so that improvements are sustained after a project closes.
BPIM VERTICALS & IMPROVEMENT AREAS
· Operations: Improve how work moves through the four walls of the warehouse, from receiving to production sequencing, staging, and outbound shipping.
· Supply Chain: Strengthen how we plan and manage inventory, from demand planning and replenishment strategy to sourcing decisions and inbound quality.
· Sales Operations: Support the commercial engine end to end, from pipeline visibility and go-to-market commercialization to customer onboarding, account management, and customer success.
· Finance: Partner with Finance on the analytical backbone of the business, financial modeling, budgeting, business intelligence reporting, FP&A and CapEx investments
WHY THIS ROLE
· You will report directly to the VP of Operations or Chief Supply Chain Officer (CSCO), with direct visibility into company strategy and the senior leadership team
· We invest in your development: Lean Six Sigma Black Belt training and certification, plus exposure through our structured rotational program, building a rare and highly valuable skill set.
· Join a high-growth distribution business with an expansive network across the packaging industry and private equity
· You will take ownership of some of the company's largest, most complex initiatives while also serving as a trusted cross-functional execution resource.
· We value our people beyond the job: 100% remote work with 20%+ travel requirement to facilitate improvement and team collaboration.
· Competitive compensation of $135,000+ annually, based on experience.
· Full benefits: health, dental, and vision insurance, plus a 401(k).
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
· 2+ years of project leadership or cross-functional project experience, from a rotational or management training program, operations or supply chain, consulting or advisory, investment banking or finance, or military logistics and operations.
· Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, operations, engineering, industrial or operations research, finance, or a related field, or equivalent operational experience.
· Demonstrated analytical ability and structured problem-solving, with a track record of driving initiatives to completion against defined timelines and deliverables.
· Comfort owning both ongoing coordination work and discrete, deadline-driven projects at the same time.
· Genuine interest in hands-on operations; this role is people-and-process execution across branches, not desk-bound analysis.
· Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to influence branches, purchasing, supply chain, and vendor teams without direct authority.
· Ability to travel to branch and warehouse facilities as project needs require.
· Successful completion of a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
· Must be within driving distance to a Packaging Exchange branch, preferably Atlanta, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Somerset NJ, Los Angeles and Seattle.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt; signals hands-on continuous-improvement interest and capability.
· Experience from a rotational or management training program at a large industrial manufacturing or distribution and wholesale company.
· Turnaround, startup, or high-growth experience; candidates who understand how to navigate uncertainty and shifting priorities.
· Prior experience managing vendor transitions, plant or warehouse moves, or volume transfers between suppliers.
· Working knowledge of distribution, warehousing, or supply-chain operations; a plus, not a prerequisite, as we train on domain specifics.
· Proficiency with ERP, inventory, or project-tracking systems.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Primarily works in an office and hybrid environment, with regular visits to branch and warehouse facilities.
· Ability to walk and stand for extended periods and to move about warehouse and production areas during facility visits.
· Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
· Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
