About Jerritt Canyon
The Jerritt Canyon deposit was discovered in 1972, and the first gold production from the property occurred in 1981. The Jerritt Canyon property contains 30,821 hectares of mining claims located in the mining-friendly state of Nevada. First Majestic acquired the Jerritt Canyon Gold Mine from Sprott Mining Inc. on April 30, 2021. In May 2023, operations were suspended to prioritize exploration and technical studies. Jerritt Canyon is now entering a new phase of evaluation and planning, requiring substantial technical support to advance the work necessary for a potential future restart of operations.
The Opportunity
Jerritt Canyon is looking for a Process Operator to assist with all process related equipment and circuits: Primary Crushing, Dryer, Fine Crushing and Grinding, Roasters, Gas Handling, CIL, Reagents, Utilities and Water Management. The Process Operator will be responsible for taking process readings, adjusting equipment, and recording data. The Process Operator will be responsible for cleaning assigned work areas and performing daily pre-shift area inspections. The candidate will safely operate and recognize symptoms of abnormal operation and perform minor preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on processing and ancillary equipment. The candidate will be required to operate mobile equipment applicable to the processing facilities.
Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and correct circuit and equipment problems.
  • Operate circuits safely, efficiently, with responsibility and reliability.
  • Record and maintain orderly operator log sheets.
  • Perform or assist with mechanical tasks.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards.
  • Pre-shift inspections, equipment pre-ops, etc.
  • Communicate effectively with others to maintain operational performance.
  • Report and address safety and environmental concerns.
  • Perform various general/manual labor duties on frequent basis such as shoveling and washdown; gathering and delivering supplies and materials; greasing conveyor belt rollers; inspecting water management and treatment components; checking and troubleshooting pumps; fusing HDPE pipe; and assisting other process operators in performing their duties, etc.
  • Work safely with a variety of chemicals including but not limited to lime, sodium cyanide, caustic, mercury, etc. while using the appropriate PPE. This may include chemical or thermal resistant suits, full and half-face respirators, and other forms of task specific PPE.
  • Conduct routine equipment inspections to identify conditions or defects that may impact employee safety, environmental compliance, property damage or reliability of equipment and take necessary steps to mitigate defects.
  • Relieve other equipment operators as needed.
  • Perform pre-shift inspections and operate the following equipment consistent with company and regulatory agency safety and environmental standards: Crusher, Feeders, Conveyors, Roasters, Thickeners, Filters, Water systems, Loaders, Skid steers, Forklifts, light vehicles, and overhead cranes.
  • Reagent handling including mixing and transferring of flocculants, and water treatment chemicals.
  • Work in strenuous physical conditions including extreme temperatures, wind, rain, sleet, snow, heat and cold, indoors, outdoors.

Education and Experience
  • At least one (1) year of Process experience preferred. Entry level positions are available.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of milling, crushing and conveying equipment. Including operating parameters, limits and functionality of equipment.
  • Knowledge of high pressure/high temperature systems preferred.
  • Direct experience working in the Process or Mining environment preferred.
  • Experience in handling chemicals and reagents preferred.
  • Experience in other phases of gold ore processing preferred.
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards required.

Requirements
  • Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam(s).
  • Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing.
  • Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include 12-hour rotating day/night shifts over holidays and weekends.
