The Controls Engineering Manager leads a team of controls engineers responsible for the design, development, implementation, and support of material handling automation systems. Your responsibilities include managing engineering resources, driving technical standards, overseeing capital projects, mentoring engineering talent, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple concurrent engineering projects, delegating authority and responsibility to subordinates as appropriate.  
  • Allocate engineering resources to successfully accomplish company objectives and priorities and identify needs for successful completion of projects. 
  • Perform administrative and oversight functions in approving proposals, expenditures, and policy enforcement. 
  • Day-to-day interaction and management of engineering team and manage recruiting, hiring, training.  
  • Establish and approve documentation and processes.  
  • Manage engineering team effectively to project timelines and budgets and ensure product/project best industry practices. 
  • Provide insight on strategic technical focus to executive team. 
  • Establish documentation and processes to improve efficiency and reliability of engineering workflow. 
  • Ownership of the technical content generated by the engineering department and critical input to effectively solve engineering problems. 
  • Approve design documentation including project design basis, specifications, drawings, and calculations. 
  • Manage multiple concurrent engineering projects, delegating authority and responsibility to subordinates as appropriate. 
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of employee(s) to ensure goals or objectives are accomplished.  Mentors, coaches, trains and develops team.
  • Additional duties as assigned. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; advanced degree (MBA, Master’s) preferred 
  • 6+ years of progressive industrial controls or automation engineering experience required 
  • 3+ years in a direct leadership role 
  • High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications 
  • Experience with PLCs' - Ladder Logic

Travel:

  • Up to 25% travel
