Job description

Position Summary

Pulva Corporation is seeking an Application and Sales Engineer who combines mechanical engineering expertise with strong sales acumen and customer-facing skills. You'll serve as the technical expert who drives the sales process - from initial customer contact through proposal and quote - while supporting engineering execution on won projects.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys both technical problem-solvingandbuilding customer relationships that drive business growth.


Primary Responsibilities


Sales & Customer Development

  • Serve as first point of contact for incoming inquiries; qualify leads to determine customer requirements, budget, timeline, and decision-making authority.
  • Generate business proposals with sales drawings, technical documentation, and pricing.
  • Create quotes - including costing of material, labor hours, and commercial terms.
  • Conduct product demonstrations and technical presentations for prospective clients.
  • Partner with Sales to deliver solutions that meet customer needs and close business.
  • Maintain an active pipeline of opportunities; follow up on proposals to drive purchasing decisions.


Engineering & Technical Support

  • Prepare preliminary mechanical designs, calculations, and layout drawings to support quotes and proposals.
  • Generate Bills of Material (BOMs) - single-level and multi-level structures.
  • Design equipment, components, and assemblies using SolidWorks; create and maintain engineering documentation.
  • Evaluate customer applications and recommend equipment solutions.
  • Lead project kick-offs and coordinate with Manufacturing to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective.
  • Provide aftermarket engineering support including installation, troubleshooting, and spare parts.
  • Process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and support continuous product improvement.
  • Support Manufacturing throughout the build process
  • Travel approximately 10-15% to customer sites, trade shows, or equipment testing.


Qualifications


Required - Engineering

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • 3+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing or industrial equipment
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks (AutoCAD and ERP experience a plus)
  • Experience generating Bills of Material (single-level and multi-level structures)


Preferred - Sales

  • 2+ years in a customer-facing, quote-driven, or business-development role
  • Experience creating business proposals with sales drawings and technical documentation
  • Experience generating quotes including costing of material and labor hours
  • Strong closing and negotiation instincts; self-motivated and goal-oriented
  • Comfortable interfacing directly with customers - site visits, presentations, product demonstrations
  • Ability to translate technical features into customer value and ROI


General

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across departments
