Location: Butler, PA

Cleveland-Cliffs, Butler Works, has an immediate opening for a Process Control Engineer - Systems. This role focuses on designing, developing, and supporting electrical and control systems for critical production units. This role is fully based on site supporting steel manufacturing operations. The position offers hands-on experience with real-time systems using various automation technologies. The ideal candidate is open-minded, ready to take responsibility, and not afraid of a challenge. They will have the opportunity to help shape the path we take into the technological future.

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Support existing Electrical and Control Systems on operational units.
  • Design and implement Electrical and Control System upgrades on new and existing units.
  • Work on a balance of new development and production support responsibilities.
  • Maintain and develop Control System and Electrical Documentation.
  • Will collaborate closely with process engineers, controls engineers, and plant operations to implement process changes.
  • Perform root cause analysis, suggest and implement corrective actions, and perform optimization of systems.
  • Contribute to system enhancements, upgrades, and modernization of legacy applications such as Automax, Slateboard, and various vintages of legacy equipment.
  • Be willing to respond to troubleshoot calls on a 24/7 basis.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with DC drives (Powerflex, ABB, Sinamics, or Reliance) and large DC motors.
  • Experience in PLC programming (ControlLogix, TIA Portal, or Automax).
  • Experience with SCADA systems (FactoryTalk, Ignition, WinCC).
  • Experience with Trending systems (iba).
  • Able to read Electrical Prints.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of industrial automation experience.
  • Administration of Windows PCs.
  • Knowledge of control theory (PID and PI control).
  • Project Management Experience.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Processing lines.
  • Knowledge of Rolling Theory.
  • Strong background in mathematics.
