Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated Paint Engineer to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will develop and implement tools, systems, and processes that improve paint system performance, quality, production uptime, and cost efficiency. You will provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise for paint processes, implement long-term corrective actions, oversee paint supplier activities, and ensure environmental compliance throughout paint operations.

  • Shift: 1st Shift, Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-4:00 PM (Mandatory overtime as needed)
  • Pay: $80,000-$95,000, depending on experience

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure paint processes are maintained and operating effectively to support vehicle production.
  • Analyze production and quality data to identify root causes and implement corrective actions for paint-related issues.
  • Supervise Robot Technicians and Paint Mixers.
  • Support the implementation of new paint processes, equipment, and technologies.
  • Communicate effectively across shifts and departments to resolve issues, implement best practices, and sustain performance goals.
  • Maintain and update process documentation.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to improve quality, reduce operational costs, minimize energy consumption, and increase efficiency.
  • Collaborate with production teams, maintenance personnel, plant leadership, manufacturing engineering, suppliers, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and implement improvements.
  • Develop action plans and lead projects through completion.
  • Evaluate and recommend manufacturing processes and equipment improvements.
  • Direct the design, development, and enhancement of manufacturing processes and equipment within assigned areas.
  • Provide technical support for plant operations.
  • Coordinate feedback from internal and external customers to better understand operational needs and expectations.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for professional development and technical learning.
  • Maintain awareness, understanding, and compliance with the Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Maintain awareness, understanding, and compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical field preferred. Equivalent automotive engineering experience may be considered.
  • Experience with automation, robotics, paint applicators, and industrial paint systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully as a team member, facilitator, and leader.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and database management tools.
  • Knowledge of paint-related technologies, including coatings, corrosion prevention, sealing systems, and related processes.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, twist, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive movements.
  • Ability to lift and carry bumpers weighing up to 50 pounds for distances of 15-25 feet.
  • Frequent bending at the waist and forward reaching during production activities.
  • Must be capable of performing essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
  • Exposure to wet and humid conditions.
  • Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and industrial chemicals.
  • Exposure to moderate to high noise levels.
  • Ability to work at a desk and computer as required.

The hourly rate for this position is anticipated between $38.46 - $45.67 per hour. This range is a good-faith estimate, based on the shift you work and other considerations permitted by law.
