Job description

Description
Process Engineer- Filament Winding
Stewartville, MN | On-site
About the Role
GEOTEK manufactures engineered fiberglass composite structures for utility infrastructure using continuous manufacturing processes- filament winding and pultrusion. We've been doing it for over 30 years, and are considered a leader in the industry.
We're hiring a Process Engineer to own process development and improvement on the manufacturing floor. You'll run trials and interpret the data, chase down the root cause when quality drifts, design tooling and fixtures in SolidWorks, and scope and land capital projects. You'll work closely with operations and the rest of the engineering team.
You don't need composites experience. If you've engineered a continuous process, the material is learnable and we'll teach it.
What You'll Do
  • Own process development from concept through production launch- equipment, tooling, parameters, and validation
  • Design tooling, fixtures, and mandrels in SolidWorks and see them through build and install
  • Run structured trials and DOEs, analyze the data, and turn it into process changes that hold
  • Lead root cause investigations on quality and throughput problems and implement permanent fixes
  • Scope, justify, and manage capital projects- new equipment, tooling, process upgrades
  • Drive continuous improvement projects end to end: identify the problem, build the plan, deliver the result
  • Develop and maintain work instructions, troubleshooting guides, and process documentation
  • Use our test lab to optimize designs for performance and manufacturability
  • Coach and train operations crews on processes and equipment
  • Support off-shift trials when needed

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (mechanical, manufacturing, chemical, or materials preferred)
  • 2-5 years of hands-on process or manufacturing engineering experience in a production environment
  • Experience owning a process. You've made changes and been accountable for the result
  • SolidWorks proficiency: parts, assemblies, drawings, GD&T per ANSI Y14.5
  • Comfortable with data- trials, capability studies, statistical problem solving
  • You can work from a goal, break it into tasks, and execute without needing to be managed
  • Strong communicator across all levels- line operators to executives

You'll Stand Out If
  • You've worked in a continuous process- filament winding, pultrusion, extrusion, coating, or similar
  • You have experience with composites or thermoset resin systems (polyester, vinyl-ester, urethane)
  • You've owned tooling or mandrel design
  • You bring Lean, Six Sigma, or structured CI methodology

Physical Work Conditions
Time should be split between the floor and the office or meeting rooms ranging anywhere from 25% to 75% on the production floor or engineering labs. While working on the floor there will be work with and around moving machinery, fumes and chemicals. Office work requires sitting at a desk, using a computer and phone.
The compensation range for this position is $74,386 - $102,280. Final offers may vary based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The posted range represents the expected earning potential for this position within the current organizational budget and market conditions.
Who We Are
For over 30 years, GEOTEK has been internationally recognized for industry leading composite technologies, engineering, and service. The company has grown PUPIยฎ into the leading global provider of fiberglass crossarms and is committed to adding and developing other market-leading composite brands for the world's infrastructure. The company was founded in 1990 to manufacture and market Common Sense Fencing and other pultruded fiberglass products. PUPI (pronounced "puppy") is a brand of GEOTEK. Using proprietary processes and several patented inventions, GEOTEK manufactures and distributes engineered fiberglass composites that are used by the transmission and distribution power lines and substations. The company is well positioned for sustained growth and profitability through market expansion and new product offerings.
Our Purpose
As the global leader in composite crossarms, we aim to broaden our engineered composite products in infrastructure applications with light poles and beyond.
