The Junior Process Engineer will aid in process improvement projects to help improve efficiency, reduce cost, and maximize profitability.
The Junior Process Engineer will become familiar with each step in the manufacturing process in order to identify problem areas and suggest ideas of improvement. This position also includes designing and implementing experiments and tests to prove out proposed changes and helping to implement these changes. The Process Engineer will also work closely with R&D and Engineering to occasionally aid in their improvement projects and help with data analysis.
๐ Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Includes the following but not limited to:
- Assess processes through observation and participation, taking measurements, and interpreting data.
- Conducting tests and monitoring the process performance throughout production and making adjustments of equipment, tools, and/or processes.
- Confirm new equipment and processes.
- Responds to breakdowns and repairs, working with other departments as needed.
- Having regular contacts with other departments and helping out with their projects when needed
- May participate in planning, design, fabrication and production of new products and perform other related duties as required or directed.
- Liaison with Production to address production concerns
- Liaison with Quality to address customer concerns and structured problem solving
๐ง Requirements for the Role:
- Bachelorโs degree in engineering
- Basic knowledge of project management principles and the ability to manage small projects or components of larger projects.
- Ability to analyze work processes, workflows, and systems to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
- Excellent project documentation and tracking skills (written reports, presentations, and procedures)
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively across different teams and departments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- No prior experience required; however, prior internship(s) and/or applicable coursework preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software required
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit various audiences
- Ability to prioritize and multitask
โจBonus: any prior experience with fusion splicing, fiber polishing, laser systems, interferometry or precision electronics
