The Project Engineer
at delivery of capital projects, equipment installations, and process improvement initiatives. This position works closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, quality, EHS, analytical development, and packaging, to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget while supporting manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Support planning and execution of capital projects and engineering initiatives, including scope development, cost estimation, scheduling, and progress tracking.
• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to support safe, timely, and cost-effective project execution.
• Assist in equipment evaluation, procurement support, installation, commissioning, and startup activities.
• Participate in design reviews and process safety reviews (e.G., HAZOP/PHA) for new and modified equipment and systems.
• Monitor project budgets, schedules, and milestones;track and communicate progress, risks, and scope changes to project stakeholders.
• Collect and analyze process and equipment data to support engineering evaluations, project justifications, and operational decision-making.
• Assist in troubleshooting equipment and process issues that arise during project execution, startup, and handover to operations.
• Support development of project documentation, including capital project requests, scopes of work, engineering drawings, and turnover packages.
• Participate in process trials, validation activities, and engineering studies.
• Support development and updates of technical documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and engineering reports.
• Ensure project and engineering documentation aligns with internal quality and regulatory standards, including change control requirements.
• Work cross-functionally with operations, quality, maintenance, EHS, supply chain, and engineering teams to support operational and project objectives.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on improving process efficiency, reducing downtime, and supporting cost optimization.
Requirements
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
• 4+ years of experience in a complex chemical, pharmaceutical, or regulated manufacturing environment. Internship or co-op experience in manufacturing or industrial environments will be considered
• Exposure to process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma)
• Experience working with engineering data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, etc.)
• Exposure to project management fundamentals (e.G., scoping, scheduling, budgeting, stakeholder communication) and familiarity with industrial equipment, manufacturing processes, or automation systems;experience with project management tools (e.G., MS Project, Smartsheet) is a plus
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and effectively across functions and organizational levels.
• Proven ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment while independently managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, regulated setting.
