Job description

Job Title: Project Manager – Process Development and Technology Transfer

Job Description

This role leads cross-functional efforts to develop, transfer, and establish production processes at internal and external clinical manufacturing facilities. You will coordinate technology transfer activities, support the successful start-up of manufacturing production campaigns, and manage a wide range of business operations within a preclinical manufacturing and process development organization. The position requires close collaboration with technical and operational teams to ensure robust processes, compliant documentation, and efficient execution of projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional teams to complete development, transfer, and establishment of production processes at internal and external clinical manufacturing facilities.
  • Work closely with internal and external partners to ensure the successful start-up of manufacturing production campaigns.
  • Drive team cooperation and collaboration to resolve cross-functional issues and provide value-adding solutions.
  • Ensure effective, accurate, and timely communication across functional areas and within project and program teams.
  • Serve as a primary contact for leadership and stakeholders regarding progress on project and program goals.
  • Build, maintain, and regularly update detailed timelines for development and technology transfer activities.
  • Ensure that process-related documentation is generated, reviewed, and delivered through quality systems in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Anticipate and address manufacturing issues related to process, documentation, or training, and support the management and implementation of process changes and operational improvements at manufacturing sites.
  • Lead recurring and ad hoc technical teams, as needed, to troubleshoot technical issues and implement new technologies, systems, or tools.
  • Identify, brainstorm, and implement improved business processes and workflows to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to streamline departmental process logistics, systems, tools, reference materials, and guides.
  • Set up and refine systems and processes to ensure exceptional service and support for partners across projects, programs, and initiatives.
  • Support technology transfer and business operations within the PAPD Operations group in Preclinical Manufacturing and Process Development.
  • Coordinate production process transfer activities to support preclinical and clinical manufacturing at both internal and external sites.
  • Manage and coordinate a wide variety of departmental business operations to ensure smooth and efficient execution of organizational goals.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sciences or Engineering discipline with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in process development, with the ability to understand and manage complex production processes.
  • Experience in project management, including coordination with third-party partners, within a process development organization.
  • Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams to achieve project and program objectives.
  • Strong skills in building and maintaining detailed project timelines and tracking progress against milestones.
  • Proficiency in managing process-related documentation within formal quality systems.
  • Ability to anticipate, identify, and address issues in manufacturing related to process, documentation, or training.
  • Experience supporting or leading technology transfer activities for preclinical or clinical manufacturing.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to ensure clear, accurate, and timely information flow across functional areas.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive practical, value-adding solutions to cross-functional challenges.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with bioprocess development is preferred.
  • Experience with project management in a process development organization in the biopharmaceutical industry is a plus.
  • Background in protein purification or related bioprocessing activities is beneficial.
  • Experience working with contract development and manufacturing organizations (CDMOs) is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization.
  • Comfort working in a fast-growing, expansion-oriented environment with evolving systems and processes.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.
