Job Description

The Process Development Associate supports a rapid analytics group within Process Development by performing product quality analyses in a fast-paced, highly matrixed laboratory environment. This role generates high-quality analytical data to meet project timelines and enable critical process decisions, partnering closely with scientists and stakeholders across multiple sites and functional areas. The position is ideal for a quick learner who is detail-oriented, team-focused, and motivated to work with advanced analytical technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Execute analytical tests within expected turnaround times, strictly following approved methods and data integrity practices.
  • Perform assays such as Size Exclusion Chromatography (SEC), Titer, Cation Exchange Chromatography (CEX), reduced Capillary Electrophoresis-SDS (rCE-SDS), non-reduced Capillary Electrophoresis-SDS (nrCE-SDS), Capillary Isoelectric Focusing (cIEF), and ATOLL-based methods.
  • Adhere to turnaround times and required metrics for high-throughput sample analysis to support project timelines.
  • Document and review experimental results in electronic laboratory notebooks in a timely, accurate, and compliant manner.
  • Author, review, and verify technical documents, analytical methods, and reports to ensure clarity and data integrity.
  • Manage logistics tasks including sample receiving, sample tracking, and coordination of equipment maintenance.
  • Monitor the safety and compliance status of the laboratory, following established procedures and reporting issues as needed.
  • Work with the development team to implement analytical methods, analyze data, and interpret results to support process development decisions.
  • Provide technical input and generate written reports summarizing analytical findings and study outcomes.
  • Communicate project updates effectively to stakeholders through verbal updates, written summaries, and formal reports.
  • Present scientific data and findings in team meetings and cross-functional discussions.
  • Maintain laboratory instruments, including routine checks, calibrations, and adherence to equipment cleaning protocols.
  • Troubleshoot and solve technical problems related to instruments, assays, and analytical workflows.
  • Organize and prioritize daily tasks to manage multiple experiments and deliverables concurrently.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, team-oriented environment by sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues, and adapting to evolving project needs.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 0–2 years of relevant laboratory experience gained in industry, academic settings, or internships.
  • Foundational understanding and some hands-on experience with chromatographic and/or electrophoretic techniques.
  • Ability to follow written procedures precisely and maintain accurate, complete laboratory records.
  • Strong attention to detail in experimental execution, documentation, and data review.
  • Ability to work safely in a laboratory environment, following established safety practices and guidelines.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to convey technical information clearly in both oral and written formats.
  • Analytical laboratory experience, particularly in chemistry or biochemistry-focused environments.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-focused, cross-functional setting.

This is a Contract position based out of Thousand Oaks, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $26.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
