Process Controls Engineering TechnicianJob Summary

The Process Controls Engineering Technician supports the Process Controls Engineer in the implementation, optimization, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes. This role is responsible for assisting with process development, troubleshooting equipment issues, supporting new product launches, and driving operational efficiencies while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and environmental compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Comply with all OSHA safety regulations, PPE requirements, and company safety policies.

  • Understand and adhere to TS16949, ISO 14001, AIAG, quality, and environmental standards.

  • Promote the health and safety of team members, contractors, and support personnel.

  • Assist maintenance teams in troubleshooting major equipment failures and identifying recurring downtime causes.

  • Participate in engineering change activities and implementation projects.

  • Assist in developing and maintaining process flow charts, setup sheets, work instructions, and line layouts.

  • Support customer line speed demonstrations by preparing, documenting, and recording production data.

  • Apply ergonomic and safety principles during the development and implementation of tools, equipment, and processes.

  • Conduct line, press, and equipment capacity studies to support production launches and future growth.

  • Stay current with latest manufacturing technologies and trends related to stamping, automation, and process controls.

  • Support Quality teams with dimensional report evaluations and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Participate in continuous improvement activities, including:

    • Kaizen submissions and implementation

    • Cross-training initiatives

    • Backfilling workstations as needed

    • Problem-solving activities

    • Supporting operational metrics and production objectives

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


QualificationsEducation & Experience
  • Associate Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electronics Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum of:

    • 2 years of experience in an automotive manufacturing environment, or

    • 4 years of experience in a non-automotive manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated experience working in a manufacturing setting preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Experience with AutoCAD.

  • Basic understanding of ergonomic and safety principles within manufacturing environments.

  • Strong interpersonal and team-building skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement tools.

  • Understanding of APQP, TS16949, and ISO 14001 requirements.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

  • Working knowledge of:

    • PFMEA

    • Control Plans

    • Capacity Studies

    • Time & Motion Analysis

  • Familiarity with electronics, robotics, and automation systems, including sensors, interfaces, and control devices.


Physical & Work Environment Requirements
  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing stairs, and use of hands for handling and operating tools or equipment.

  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and comprehend verbal instructions and information.

  • Strong concentration skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated complex problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to travel occasionally, including rare extended travel assignments.
