The Process Control Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation, and optimization of process control systems within the manufacturing environment. The role involves developing control strategies, implementing control systems, and ensuring their continuous improvement to maximize efficiency, quality, and safety in production processes.
The Job You Will Perform:
Control System Design and Implementation:
  • Design and develop process control systems to improve efficiency and quality.
    • Program, configure, and maintain DCS and HMI systems.
    • Develop and implement advanced control strategies, including PID, model predictive control, and other control algorithms.
    • Monitor and analyze control system performance and process data.
    • Identify and troubleshoot issues in process control systems to minimize downtime and ensure smooth operations.
    • Optimize control loops and control system parameters to enhance process performance.
    • Lead or participate in process control projects, from initial design through commissioning and startup.
    • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, and engineering, to ensure project objectives are met.
    • Assist with project documentation, including P&IDs, control narratives, and system specifications.
    • Ensure that control systems comply with relevant safety and regulatory standards.
    • Implement and maintain safety instrumented systems.
    • Assist and participate in risk assessments.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process control and automation.
    • Stay updated on the latest advancements in process control technology and methodologies.
    • Provide training and support to plant personnel on process control systems and best practices.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related fields.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in process control engineering within a manufacturing or industrial environment. 5 years of experience preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency with DCS and HMI programming and configuration.
    • Strong understanding of process control principles, including PID control, advanced process control (APC), and model predictive control (MPC).
    • Experience with control system design tools and software (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, AutoCAD).
    • General knowledge of industry standards and regulations (e.g., ISA, IEC, NFPA).
    • Experience with basic Office products like Excel, Word, Power Point etc.
    • Prior Experience with SAP is a benefit.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
    • Demonstrate capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Certifications or prior experience:
    • ISA Certified Automation Professional (CAP), or other relevant certifications.
    • Experience with Honeywell Experion, ABB QCS or Valmet DNA would be preferred but is not required.
