The AbbVie Business Technology Solutions (BTS) team shapes the digital transformation necessary for our treatments to positively impact patients' lives. In the role of Analyst, Business Systems you will help tackle complex challenges as you develop and grow your skills and diversify your professional experiences. 

The Associate Business Systems Analyst will support the FAiM team in advancing R&D initiatives focused on the development and adoption of artificial intelligence, automation, and robotic process automation (RPA) capabilities. This role will work collaboratively with R&D stakeholders, technology teams, data specialists, and solution developers to understand business needs, document requirements, evaluate opportunities, and help deliver technology solutions that improve efficiency, decision-making, and user experiences across R&D. 

The ideal candidate is curious about emerging technologies, comfortable working across business and technical teams, and eager to develop practical experience with AI, large language models (LLMs), automation platforms, and business systems analysis in support of R&D priorities. 

Responsibilities:

  • Compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures. 
  • Learning and understanding the business processes around Global Therapeutics Business Teams.
  • Responding to questions and consultation with business users regarding current and potential system inputs, processes, and outputs.
  • Developing detailed business user requirements, functional requirements, user stories, system documentation, workflow procedures, and data flows.
  • Ensuring current and accurate system requirements and documentation for existing and new systems 
  • Conducting research and analysis into the nature, effect, and results of system issues and proper resolution.
  • Helping to drive alignment between business and technology team on plans, requirements, sprint schedules, trade-offs, and show cases while ensuring all understand the scope and goals of the project. 
  • Consulting with functional areas to develop understanding of the varied and complex business needs supported by the system.
  • Determining how changing business needs will affect the systems.
  • Creating and managing system change requests and documentation supporting implementations.
  • Working collaboratively and effectively with both technical and business team members. 
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in information systems, computer science, business, engineering, analytics, or a related field.
  • Ability to analyze business processes and communicate requirements clearly. 
  • Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with both business and technical stakeholders. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, project-based environment. 

Preferred:  

  • Some experience through internships, academic projects, co-op assignments, or entry-level professional work in business analysis, technology, process improvement, data, automation, or a related area. 
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence, generative AI, machine learning concepts, or large language models. 
  • Knowledge of prompt design, LLM use cases, retrieval-augmented generation, AI agents, or evaluation approaches. 
  • Experience with Python, including basic scripting, data manipulation, API integration, or automation. 
  • Exposure to RPA or workflow automation platforms. 
  • Experience with process mapping, requirements management, Agile methods, or user story development. 
  • Familiarity with data concepts, relational databases, APIs, or system integrations. 
  • Experience with tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, Visio, Lucidchart, Power Automate, UiPath, or comparable platforms. 
  • Understanding of software development life cycle concepts and testing practices. 
  • Interest in regulated industries, life sciences, and healthcare.
