Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Procedure Writer opportunity in Johnson City, TN.
Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Procedure Writer to develop, revise, and maintain operational procedures supporting an industrial manufacturing project within the nuclear industry. This role ensures that all documentation aligns with regulatory requirements, quality standards, and engineering specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience writing procedures in a highly regulated environment and a strong understanding of NQA-1, DOE, and NRC compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and update procedures for manufacturing, testing, maintenance, and quality assurance activities
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), engineers, and operations personnel to gather technical content
  • Ensure all procedures comply with NQA-1, DOE, NRC, and internal standards
  • Format and structure documents for clarity, usability, and regulatory compliance
  • Maintain document control and revision history in accordance with configuration management protocols
  • Support audits and inspections by providing accurate and traceable documentation
  • Review and incorporate feedback from stakeholders to continuously improve procedural content
  • Assist in training efforts by developing supporting materials and job aids
  • Ensure consistency across procedures and alignment with approved work instructions and specifications

Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience writing procedures in the nuclear or defense industries
  • Experience supporting DOE or NRC-regulated projects
  • Experience developing safety related documents.
  • Strong understanding of NQA-1 and nuclear regulatory documentation standards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and document management systems
  • Excellent written communication, organizational, and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, or related field
  • Certification in technical writing or documentation standards
  • Experience with electronic document control systems
