Job description

As the Math Grading Operations Manager, you will oversee all grading operations across AoPS offerings, ensuring that student homework is graded accurately, returned with high-quality feedback, completed within expected timelines, and that academic integrity review processes are consistently and fairly applied. You will manage and develop a team of Specialists and part-time staff, build cross-functional relationships to align grading priorities with other teams, and drive continuous improvement of grading processes across AoPS offerings.
The Math Grading Operations Manager will:
  • Manage and lead a team of Grading Operations Specialists
  • Directly oversee all part-time graders, releasers, and plagiarism reviewers
  • Own and be accountable for grading quality and efficiency outcomes across AoPS offerings
  • Establish turnaround SLAs across grading, releasing, and plagiarism review workflows
  • Actively build a positive, high-performing team culture, establishing team norms that support collective success and championing organizational values across the Grading Operations team
  • Work cross-functionally with partners including the Operations, Product, and Curriculum teams to coordinate delivery and resolve issues that intersect the grading operations space
  • Optimize grading workflows and SLAs across products, identifying where procedures can be simplified, extended, or replaced to improve outcomes at scale
  • Lead hiring and onboarding of Specialists and part-time grading staff, including graders, releasers, and plagiarism reviewers
  • Evaluate and develop team members through regular feedback, coaching, and structured performance management, fostering a culture of growth and proactively addressing issues
  • Lead the development, maintenance, and improvement of grading policies, academic integrity procedures, and documentation across products
  • Participate in grading, releasing, and plagiarism review on a regular basis to maintain direct familiarity with the state of work, uphold the standard set for the team, and stay connected to the day-to-day challenges their staff face
  • Assist the Customer Service team in responding to parent and student inquiries relating to grading, homework feedback, and academic integrity
  • Assist with broader Education team needs, as needed

The ideal candidate has:
  • A solid academic background in mathematics
  • Strong understanding of math pedagogy, written homework feedback best practices, and academic integrity principles
  • Demonstrated ability to connect operational goals to broader organizational objectives
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and relationship-building skills
  • Strong operational, people, and project management skills
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, with advanced knowledge of Google Sheets strongly preferred
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new operational and educational technologies
  • Systematic thinking capability for managing complicated processes across multiple product lines
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field strongly preferred
  • Experience with AoPS offerings strongly preferred
