Job description

Medical Diagnostic Laboratories (MDL) is a CLIA certified clinical laboratory with multiple state licensing, specializing in state of the art, automated DNA based molecular analysis of a variety of chronic and infectious illnesses. MDL specializes and performs Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) with a larger menu of testing available in the field of infectious disease. Our main theme of research is in the field of Gynecology, Infectious Diseases, Infectious Arthritis, Tick-borne Diseases, Mycology, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS).

MDL is currently expanding and is looking for Full-Time Validation Technician to join our growing laboratory team.

 

Real-Time Reagents:

 

  • Properly locate and identify stocks of primers and probes for each assay
  • Properly locate and identify stocks of primers and probes for each assay
  • Properly locate and identify plasmid stocks for each day
  • Properly hydrate stock solutions of primer and probe for each assay
  • Properly dilute positive standards from plasmid stock and aliquot for general laboratory use
  • Run a test on each new batch of primer probe and standards compare to known standards to validate
  • Keep all validation results cataloged for comparison to future
  • Log all reagents made in appropriate places (rMDL inventory or log books)
  • Log hydration numbers in the appropriate places

 

Bio-Plex Reagents:

 

  • Properly locate reagents for the individual tests
  • Using the appropriate buffers, dNTPs, primer mixes and taq to create the PCR mix for desired test
  • Using the correct buffers, ASPE, dNTP, primer mixes and tsp to create the ASPE mix for the desired test
  • Use stock primers to create primer mixes for the individual tests (PCR and ASPE)
  • Use stock primers to create the Synthetic controls for individual tests
  • Combine purchase bead for use in the clinical workflow
  • Following procedure make any solutions needed to complete the assay procedures

Solutions:

 

  • Following procedure locate components of solutions in the chemical room and create new mixtures (Digestive Additive, dNTPs, Pyro Washes, 5x loading Dye)
  • After creating new reagents make sure they are tested and keep a log of when reagents are made tested and released to the clinical workflow.

  • Performs other similar or related duties as required or assigned.
  • Assures activities are conducted in a safe manner and materials are handled according to safety guidelines.
  • Assures customer privacy is maintained at all times.
  • Participates as a team member and is accountable for own work responsibilities.

Job QualificationsGeneral Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA’s) required

  • 9 month Clinical Laboratory Technician training

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk and perform repetitive motion (manual pipette)
  • Proficient visual and audio skills
