Job description


onsemi is seeking a Probe Technician in Hopewell Junction, NY. This is a multi-skilled, hands-on role responsible for supporting semiconductor manufacturing through equipment maintenance, process execution, and day-to-day operations. This position requires a strong willingness to learn semiconductor processes, to troubleshoot and maintain manufacturing equipment, and to support a smooth production flow while adhering to all safety, quality, and cleanroom standards.
This role is ideal for a technician who enjoys hands-on technical work, problem-solving, and working in a high-precision manufacturing environment. Application Technicians work 12-hour compressed shifts in a cleanroom environment on the N2 backend schedule.
Night Shift 2 Schedule: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday every other Saturday, 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM
Responsibilities
Operations Support
  • Operate production tools safely and efficiently within a cleanroom environment
  • Load/unload wafers, materials, and tools in accordance with operating procedures
  • Monitor equipment performance, alarms, and system statuses
  • Support production goals by maintaining equipment uptime and tool availability
  • Follow all safety, ESD, and contamination control guidelines

Probe Card Maintenance
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot probe card issues to minimize downtime
  • Assist with probe card repairs
  • Maintain repair logs and documentation in accordance with company standards
  • Support new incoming probe card setup activities

Equipment Maintenance
  • Perform preventative maintenance (PM) on semiconductor manufacturing equipment
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues to minimize downtime
  • Assist with equipment repairs, part replacements, and system calibrations
  • Maintain maintenance logs and documentation in accordance with company standards
  • Support equipment startups, shutdowns, and qualification activities

Continuous Improvement & Team Collaboration
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for process, equipment, and operations
  • Work closely with engineers, technicians, and operators across shifts
  • Assist with training new team members and documenting procedures
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and organization in work areas
  • Perform all job duties in a safe and responsible manner, supporting all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) programs

Qualifications
Required
  • High school diploma or GED with 2-5 years of technical manufacturing experience
  • Proven ability to identify process issues and provide recommendations for resolutions to those issues.
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 10-hours per day in a cleanroom environment while wearing coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, and gloves.
  • Basic computer literacy, including the use of email, web-based systems, and common office productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Office applications) to document work, create reports, and communicate with team members.
  • Must be self-motivated, showing initiative and drive to exceed performance expectations.
  • Analytical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with close attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well in a diverse team environment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and adjust to rapidly changing priorities.
  • Able to speak and write fluently in English.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Proficient in working with hand tools, meters, and calibration tools
  • Basic electrical understanding, including concepts like Ohm's Law.
  • Knowledge of and ability to follow 5S, LEAN is a plus.

Preferred
  • Vocational High School, Technical training, or technical trade certificate.
  • Technician Documentation writing experience

Hourly: onsemi is excited to share the base salary range for this position is $21.20 to $36.92 exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses.The final pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, education, experience, and/or consideration of internal equity of our current team members.
