SUMMARY OF POSITION:
A Pro Shop Manager oversees the daily operations of a golf shop. They are responsible for driving retail sales, managing inventory, supervising staff, and ensuring exceptional customer service so that members and guests enjoy a seamless experience. To go along with this, they will be managing point-of-sales systems, collecting sales and training staff.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
Essential Duties*
  • Manage, oversee, and direct the golf shop assistants with point-of-sale systems and supervise outside services with the range and carts.
  • Schedule and manage golf shop assistants shifts.
  • Manage and operate the tee sheets for individuals, groups, and tournaments.
  • Maintain regular, open contact with Head Golf Professional, General Manager, and volunteers to ensure teamwork and consistency in teaching programs.
  • Possess a personality trait that will make people feel welcome, reflecting favorably on the facility.
    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES.
  • Maintain professional expertise through related courses and learning opportunities in golfmanagement, accounting, and operations.
  • Encourage staff to engage in learning opportunities to maintain professional expertise and provide resources to meet those objectives.
  • Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf and its rules.
  • Function as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees.
  • Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills.
  • Initiative-taking with desire to promote and market.
  • Service and client-driven attitude.
  • Experienced in written and oral business communications.
  • Remain up to date on customer relations management.
  • Maintain and promote a positive professional image within the community.

Knowledge of : general knowledge of the game of golf, golf rules, golf facility operations and tournament operations.
Physical ability to: Frequently required to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, climb, twist, reach, push, pull, and lift, carry, and/or move objects or supplies weighing up to 25 lbs. May be required to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures and wet conditions, as applicable to the position.
Ability to: follow written and oral instructions; operate standard computer software i.e. Word, Excel; establish and maintain effective working rela tion ships with other city employees and with the general public; ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time; maintain and promote a positive professional image.
Qualifications
  • Must have High School Diploma or it's equivalent
  • Must have 1-3 years of golf industry experience or a combination of significant experience and formal golf education.
  • Must have a strong business aptitude and passion for the golf business.
  • Must have strong computer and math skills - Word and Excel
  • Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be highly organized, efficient, and meticulous.
  • Must be initiative-taking, goal driven and initiative-taker.
  • Maintain Texas driver's license (applicable to job responsibilities) and good driving record.
