Job description

Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for preparing and educating patients and families on pre and post-operative instructions including recovering patients after outpatient procedures.
PRN basis:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 0600AM - 0300PM CST as needed
Regular attendance and reporting to work promptly are an essential part of this position
Essential Functions:
  • Assesses patient status on admission to pre-op or post-op area, and on a continuing basis.
  • Provides safe, quality patient care to the Pre-op and Post-op patient by utilizing the nursing process and nursing diagnosis in a timely manner and by setting appropriate priorities. Coordinates nursing interventions to enhance achievement of expected outcomes and to ensure readiness for discharge.
  • Observe and interpret patient's symptoms and communicate them to physicians
  • Collaborate with physicians and nurses to devise individualized care plans for patients
  • Perform routine procedures (blood pressure measurements, administering injections etc.) and fill in patients' charts
  • Administration of medications and IV fluids based on age of the patient and patient's clinical condition.
  • Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders
  • Charts patient information accurately and timely
  • Inspect the facilities and act to maintain excellent hygiene and safety (decontaminating equipment, sanitizing surfaces, preparing beds etc.)
  • Provide instant medical care in emergencies
  • Assist surgeons during procedures if required

Job Qualifications:
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • 1-2 years of PACU, CCU, ICU, ER experience required
  • Ambulatory Surgery Center or Outpatient Clinic experience preferred
  • ACLS and BLS and CPR certifications required

Physical Requirements:
Requires the physical ability and stamina (i.e. to walk/stand, talk) for prolonged periods of time, push carts/wheelchairs, position/lift patients more than 50 pounds without assistance, provide CPR, etc.) to perform the essential functions of the position.
