Job Title: PRN Preop and PACU Registered Nurse (RN) or LVN

Location: Waxahachie Surgery Center

Department: Preoperative and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

Employment Type: PRN/independent contractor

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled PRN Preop and PACU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality care to patients before and after surgical procedures, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preoperative Care:
    • Conduct thorough patient assessments prior to surgery.
    • Review patient history and verify surgical consent.
    • Administer preoperative medications and IVs as necessary.
    • Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families.
  • Post-Anesthesia Care:
    • Monitor patients' vital signs and recovery progress in the PACU.
    • Manage postoperative pain and administer medications as prescribed.
    • Assess for any complications and take appropriate action.
    • Educate patients and their families on postoperative care instructions.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare team members.
    • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
    • Document all care provided accurately and promptly.

Qualifications:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in Texas
  • BLS and ACLS certification required.
  • Excellent critical thinking and assessment skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BSN preferred.
  • Previous experience in an outpatient surgical setting.

Schedule:

  • PRN position; must be available to work variable 10-12 shifts Tuesdays and Thursdays

Compensation:

  • Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience.
