Midstate Medical Center is seeking a Nocturnist Physician Assistant to join our talented and enthusiastic surgery team! The successful candidate will be responsible for first-assisting in the operating room, rounding, bedside procedures, admissions, discharges and consults.  APPs will work in collaboration with a number of surgeons. The service currently covers General Surgery, Robotic Surgery, Bariatric Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, with some coverage of Orthopedics, and Vascular. Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners Role Scope:

Under established guidelines and in collaboration and/or supervision with the practice physician(s), Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners perform routine physical examinations, and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients.

In consultation with the physician(s) and care team members, Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists.

Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider’s practice as designated by protocols and identifies problems outside of their scope of practice and refers appropriately to physician.


Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Licensure : Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible)
  • Training : Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP certified)
    • RNFA certification is required for Nurse Practitioners
  • Experience:  at least 1+ year of experience in a surgery or related setting

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience :  2+ years in a surgery setting
