Job Title: High School Mathematics Teacher

Job Summary:
The High School Mathematics Teacher is responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing rigorous mathematics instruction for students in grades 9–12 in accordance with the Florida Department of Education Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) Standards. The teacher fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, and college and career readiness while maintaining a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment. The teacher collaborates with administrators, colleagues, parents, and support staff to maximize student achievement.

• Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based mathematics instruction aligned with Florida's B.E.S.T. Standards.
• Teach courses such as Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Liberal Arts Mathematics, Probability and Statistics, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, or other assigned mathematics courses.
• Develop lesson plans that promote conceptual understanding, mathematical reasoning, and real-world application.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the academic needs of diverse learners, including students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Section 504 Plans, English Language Learners (ELLs), and gifted students.
• Prepare students for Florida statewide assessments, including End-of-Course (EOC) assessments, where applicable.
• Use formative and summative assessment data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction.
• Establish and maintain effective classroom management practices that encourage student engagement and positive behavior.
• Integrate instructional technology, graphing calculators, digital learning platforms, and learning management systems into classroom instruction.
• Maintain accurate student records, attendance, grades, and documentation in accordance with district and state requirements.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, academic performance, and behavior.
• Collaborate with department members, instructional coaches, school counselors, Exceptional Student Education (ESE) staff, and administrators.
• Participate in faculty meetings, Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), professional development activities, and school improvement initiatives.
• Supervise students during assigned duties, extracurricular activities, and school-sponsored events.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records in accordance with FERPA and district policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the school principal.

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Secondary Education, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Valid Florida Educator Certificate with certification in Mathematics (Grades 6–12) or eligibility to obtain certification through the Florida Department of Education.
• Knowledge of Florida B.E.S.T. Standards and secondary mathematics curriculum.
• Strong classroom management, communication, organizational, and instructional skills.
• Ability to effectively integrate educational technology into mathematics instruction.

• Master's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field.
• Previous high school mathematics teaching experience.
• Experience teaching Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE), Dual Enrollment, or Honors mathematics courses.
• Experience using data-driven instruction and differentiated teaching strategies.
• ESOL Endorsement or Reading Endorsement preferred.
• Experience with online and blended learning environments.

• Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the classroom during the instructional day.
• Ability to lift and carry instructional materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to supervise students in classrooms, hallways, and other school settings.

• High school classroom setting within a Florida public, charter, or private school.
• Regular collaboration with teachers, administrators, parents, counselors, and support staff.
• Participation in after-school meetings, parent conferences, professional development, testing activities, and school-sponsored events as required.
