Job description

We are looking for an experienced Controller to provide steady financial leadership for a private club in metro Detroit This position is ideal for a hands-on controller looking for in an exciting opportunity at a well respected private club. This is an on site role and open due to a retirement.


Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily accounting operations and provide practical financial leadership.

• Prepare, review, and maintain accurate financial statements while ensuring reporting remains timely and reliable.

• Partner with the existing accounting staff members responsible for billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll to support overall department performance.

• Perform detailed account reviews, reconciliations, and general ledger oversight to keep records current and accurate.

• Support budgeting, cash management, and routine financial analysis to assist leadership with operational decisions.

• Use accounting systems and reporting tools to improve visibility into financial results and monitor key activity.

• Contribute in a highly hands-on capacity, stepping into transactional and managerial accounting work as needed.

• 5+ years of accounting or controllership experience, including responsibility for financial reporting and month-end processes.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, and core accounting functions.
• Proficiency with accounting software systems and strong comfort working across multiple financial platforms.
• Experience using ADP, CRM tools, Crystal Reports, or comparable business and reporting systems.
• Solid understanding of budgeting, auditing support, reconciliations, and general ledger management.
• Ability to work independently, organize competing priorities, and bring structure to an accounting function that needs immediate support.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both accounting staff and operational leadership.
