  • POSITION SUMMARY
    • Position Summary:
      • The Privacy Officer is responsible for the development, implementation, oversight, and ongoing management of the hospital's HIPAA Privacy Program. This role ensures compliance with the HIPAA Privacy Rule, HITECH Act, and all state privacy laws. The Privacy Officer serves as the primary point of contact for privacy-related inquiries, complaints, investigations, and regulatory reporting. The Privacy Officer works collaboratively with HIM, IT Security, Risk Management, Legal, Compliance, and clinical departments to protect patient information and promote a culture of privacy across the organization.
  • POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
    • Minimum Education
      • Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Science or related field preferred
    • Minimum Experience
      • Three years of experience in Health Information Management, Compliance, Risk Management, Release of Information or Patient Access/Quality
      • Experience with HIPAA regulations and investigations preferred
    • Required Registration/License/Certification
      • Certification or agreement to complete: HCCA (Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance) RHIT/RHIA from AHIMA or Certified in Healthcare Privacy & Security from AHIMA
