Freight Coordinator
Department: Purchasing
Location: Spring Hill, TN
The Freight Coordinator supports inbound/outbound logistics, transportation, and shipping within Armada facilities. The Freight Coordinator books/tenders and tracks shipments to ensure cost effective on-time deliveries to support the needs of production all while managing a sustainable flow of materials. The Freight Coordinator works closely with Purchasing and Warehouse employees to achieve efficient, cost effective results through a safe, positive, engaging work environment of teamwork. This position requires hands-on leadership skills, along with a passion for Operational Excellence, to be successful.
Main Duties amp; Responsibilities
  • Coordinate cost effective freight and competitive rates through RFQs;
  • Track and manage damage claims with third party carriers;
  • Able to communicate effectively, working across multiple departments and platforms;
  • Ability to coordinate freight schedules for efficient operations;
  • Develop strong relationships with vendors and carriers;
  • Ensure freight carriers deliver on-time, at scheduled times, communicating ETA’s to internal customers and teams;
  • Follow and enforce cGMP guidelines and processes as established in department SOPs;
  • Create reports in approach systems as needed by other departments;
  • Ensure accurate freight and communicate with vendors and carriers;
  • Ability to coordinate strategic planning for FTL and LTL’s;
  • Develop tracking tools and measures to support freight logistics and cost effective trending;
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary.
Requirements and Skills
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent;
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university preferred;
  • 2+ years in transportation or logistics environment preferred;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint;
  • Experience with automated systems, preferred;
  • Ability to identify problems/concerns;
  • Interested and capable in solving problems and driven to execute;
  • Very strong communication skills, internal and external to Armada;
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask;
  • Great time management skills to prioritize workload/schedules appropriately;
  • Demonstrated effective team player;
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.;
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time;
  • Must be able to wear any required PPE such as scrubs, hair net, lab coat, facemask, and safety glasses;
  • Ability to work in a packaging area with a moderate powder substance in the air with or without a respirator;
  • Ability to work above shoulders;
  • Other physical requirements include frequent squatting, bending, twisting, and bi-lateral wrist movement;
  • Ability to work around a variety of different smells and aromas;
  • Ability to view a computer screen and type for extended hours;
  • Work environment is normally in an office setting;
  • Must be able to make frequent rounds in a warehouse environment;
  • Ability to adjust work schedule as business needs require.
