Principal Software Engineer

The Role
We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join a Fidelity Technology team and help deliver next-generation platform capabilities. In this role, you'll be part of Platform Engineering, a centralized organization that builds scalable engineering solutions so product and application teams can stay focused on delivering business value.
Platform Engineering designs and delivers core capabilities across the engineering ecosystem, including optimizing CI/CD pipelines, building automation to enforce security and compliance standards, developing tools that extend cloud platform functionality, and eliminating manual toil through smart automation.
This position is based in Westlake, Texas and combines hands-on software development with technical leadership. You will play a key role in setting engineering standards, influencing platform architecture, and mentoring engineers across the team.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
  • A solid and strong foundation in software engineering - bachelor's degree + preferred, 8+ years' experience
  • Expert and comfortable with Python and or core Java technologies and frameworks like Spring Boot
  • Understanding of AWS or other cloud platforms and containerization technologies such as EKS and Docker
  • Experience with the following technologies: Spring, REST/Web Services, Maven, JSON, Apache Tomcat, Swagger, Message Queues
  • Identifies opportunities to improve maintainability of the application automation through testing
  • Comfortable with Design, development, and enhancement of Automation frameworks
  • Hands on experience in Selenium, Cucumber, FitNesse
  • Experienced with SQL databases (Oracle preferred) and hands-on experience is building complex SQL queries required for data validations
  • Identify opportunities to improve maintainability of application automation platform
  • Strong experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery using tools like Concourse, GIT, Jenkins, Artifactory, Veracode, and uDeploy.
  • Passionate and committed to learning new things and developing with the latest technologies and frameworks
  • Work well in both a small agile team and independently, having a strong user focus
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks at a given time
  • Experience utilizing AI capabilities to generate code and increase productivity.
  • Knowledge in creating agentic AI solutions

Fidelity's Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
