We have an exciting opportunity for Principal Material and Process Engineer to join our Material and Process (M&P) team supporting varieties of product lines in McKinney, Texas.  The engineer will be responsible for material tests and analyses, production hardware empirical testing, special engineering assignment, emerging program technical supports and New product integration activities.  This individual will work with a cross functional team including manufacture engineers, quality engineers, supply chains, operation value stream, and program authority to resolve pressing technical design and producibility issues. 

The Material and Process Engineering team within McKinney, TX drives business success by providing engineering expertise to solve today’s problems in multiple domains.  The material engineering discipline serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) to the material characteristic in terms of hardware compatibility, operation endurance, manufacture environment adaptability and many aspects of producibility incorporation. 

As a Principal Engineer, you are expected to serve as a lead within the team, you shall demonstrate superior engineering skills and knowledge, mentor junior engineers and work with other functional disciplines in collaboration. 

What you will do:

  • Evaluation and identification of materials and processes based on program specification, design and performance requirements
  • Be a part of integrated team in design element, select and approve materials usage, substrate finishes in new and emerging programs
  • Be a part of rapid response team that address factory manufacture process interruption
  • Lead supplier material troubleshoot issue
  • Lead or collaborate in analyses and reporting documentation of technical positions for alternate materials, obsolescence, and failure analyses

Qualifications you must have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 (Eight) years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience with mechanical assembly and technical datasheet
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access required information
  • Experience leading technical teams or serving as a technical lead in a rapid manufacturing environment
  • In-depth knowledge in material characteristics, material application, material selection and material design selection

Qualifications we prefer:

  • Masters or Ph.D. degree in STEM
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Experience with Design of Experiment (DOE) troubleshooting skills
  • Proficient in presenting technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Superior multi-discipline collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills with data-driven approaches
  • Experience with material testing in an analytical laboratory environment  
  • Candidates must have highly developed interpersonal, leadership, teaming and problem-solving skills.

  • Skilled at planning, prioritizing, and executing projects/programs to successful completions.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
